Subject: Who's Your Favorite Actor/Actress & Why?

My favorite actor is Sidney Poitier. I have read his biography "Measure of a Man," which tells of his family's arrival in Florida and how he tried to obtain acting roles, but was told that he needed to learn how to speak first. Poitier is probably best remembered for portraying Mark Thackerary in "To Sir, With Love." Everytime this movie is on I watch it. Sidney is mesmerizing as Thackerary and how he teaches his students, even though they make his life hell on wheels, and how he finally wins their approval and friendship. It also shows how he teaches them to love their selves and to respect each other and how anything and everything in life can be yours if you try and want it bad enough.

Who is your favorite actor/actress and why?

Actor: Owen Wilson because he's done so many comedies.
Actress: Wanda Sykes because her stand-up specials are so funny.

Clint Eastwood - I saw his interview on "The Actor's Studio," and gained some new insight about him as an artist. He was great in "Gran Torino," and "Unforgiven."

I go through crushes through the years with different actresses. I like them for a year or two and then, suddenly, I don't care anymore. It started with Farrah Fawcett and Goldie Hawn in the 70s and Heather Locklear in the 80s, Julia Roberts in the 90s and continues this day with Anne Hathaway, Keira Knightley and a few others. A few of them I still like and I think that Julia Roberts and Keira Knightley will be gorgeous into their 60s and they're both very good actresses. They both capture my attention very quickly. If I'm channel surfing and see either of them, the surfing stops. For me, it's not easy to separate the physical attraction from the acting ability. I can do it though and there's quite a number of talented actresses out there.

Obviously loads of people... I do love Alan Alda, especially as Hawkeye in M*A*S*H, and Donald Sutherland from the M*A*S*H movie come to think of it. Yep, anyone that played Hawkeye ;-)

Totally agree about Sidney Poitier - remember him best from "Lilies Of The Field", which was a wonderful film. My faves were the three Bs: Brando, Brynner and Bronson from waaaay back when, Katherine Hepburn, Sophia Loren, Gregory Peck, Anthony Hopkins...and lately James Marsters who played Spike on BTVS - he was so cool...and yet soooooo hot! Also like alll 4 guys on Criminal Minds and Kirsten Vangsness.

Tom Hanks. He is just a master of the art of acting. He does not rely on looks to get him roles. He has actual talent that speaks for itself!

Meryl Streep. She just oozes talent! She also does not have to rely on looks to get great roles.
