Audrey Hepburn Trivia Questions

1. In which movie did Audrey portray a schoolteacher accused of lesbianism?

From Quiz
Audrey Hepburn Movies

Answer: The Children's Hour

"The Children's Hour" was released in 1961 and directed by William Wyler. Audrey and Shirley MacLaine portray two schoolteachers accused of lesbianism by an obnoxious and mean-spirited little girl desperate for revenge because Audrey punished her for lying.

2. Which movie does NOT have at least one scene in Paris?

From Quiz Audrey Hepburn Movies

Answer: Green Mansions

"Green Mansions," the story of mysterious Rima the Bird Girl, who falls for a bitter young man played by Anthony Perkins, is set in the Amazon jungles and has no scenes in Paris. All other films are set in Paris.

3. Sabrina (she played the title character, give me her last name.)

From Quiz Audrey Hepburn Characters

Answer: Fairchild & fairchild

Audrey became great friends with William Holden on the set of this movie, it has been said that they had an affair. Humphrey Bogart, on the other hand was always cold towards Audrey and considered her an amateur.

4. Which film is about a middle-aged American playboy who falls for a young Parisian music student?

From Quiz Audrey Hepburn Movies

Answer: Love in the Afternoon

"Love in the Afternoon" (1957) stars Gary Cooper as the playboy and, yes, Audrey as the music student. Audrey becomes infatuated with the carefree and carnal attitudes of the much older American playboy, and she decides to woo him by pretending to be a woman of the world. Billy Wilder directed this comic satire of French romantic cinema.

5. In which movie does Audrey sing a song?

From Quiz Audrey Hepburn Movies

Answer: Breakfast at Tiffany's

Audrey wasn't typically praised for her vocal talents, but I loved her rendition of "Moon River" in "Breakfast at Tiffany's." I often watch the movie just to listen to the opening credits and then hear her sing the song on her apartment fire escape. When she sings "Moon River," the lyrics sound genuinely melancholy. "Breakfast at Tiffany's" is the sometimes somber, sometimes comic story of a high-class call girl looking for the ultimate sugar daddy. However, by the film's end, she realizes that there's much more to life than money...there's love with the writer upstairs. This movie was loosely based on Truman Capote's novella of the same name; however, there were several plot/character changes in the story's screen adaptation.

6. Which leading man did Audrey make more than one movie with?

From Quiz Audrey Hepburn Movies

Answer: William Holden

William Holden starred with Audrey in "Sabrina" (1954) and "Paris When It Sizzles" (1964). All other actors only appeared in one movie with her. According to Audrey Hepburn's biography, by Barry Paris, the two stars were extremely attracted to one another and were rumored to have had an affair. However, most assume that Audrey broke off the relationship because Holden couldn't father any children and she desperately wanted to be a mother. But that's Hollywood gossip; who knows if it's really true.

7. Breakfast at Tiffany's (Her New York name.)

From Quiz Audrey Hepburn Characters

Answer: Holly Golightly & holly

Marilyn Monroe was intended to play the role.

8. Which movie is about a husband and wife whose marriage is falling apart?

From Quiz Audrey Hepburn Movies

Answer: Two for the Road

"Two for the Road" (1967) is a brilliant comedy/drama costarring Albert Finney as Audrey's husband. The film expertly tells the story of the couple's meeting, dating relationship, marriage, and marriage breakdown through a collage of unchronological vignettes. The viewer keeps track of what era of the relationship each scene belongs to through visual clues such as the car they drive, Audrey's hairstyle, etc. I adore this movie for its honest view of common marriage problems and discontentment.

9. Breakfast At Tiffany's (Her REAL name)

From Quiz Audrey Hepburn Characters

Answer: Lulamae Barnes & Lulamae

This is my favorite movie of all time so I thought it deserved two questions.

10. "But it's not the truth, not a word of it is true! We've never thought of each other that way." The gossip mill starts in this movie, about two teachers accused of inappropriate relations. What movie is this line from?

From Quiz Audrey Hepburn- Memorable Lines

Answer: The Children's Hour

The line above is from Audrey, as Karen, in "The Children's Hour" (1961), talking to Martha, played by Shirley Maclaine, after they were just accused of being lesbians by a mean-spirited student. This is said at the point where Karen is worried because students are leaving the school, and she fears her fiance will break it off.

11. For which movie did Henry Mancini NOT compose the score?

From Quiz Audrey Hepburn Movies

Answer: The Children's Hour

Alex North wrote the score for "The Children's Hour". Mancini wrote beautiful scores for the three other films, and his most famous Audrey movie score was "Breakfast at Tiffany's", most notably the song "Moon River". For this song, composer Henry Mancini and lyricist Johnny Mercer won the 1961 Oscar for Best Song. For the entire film, Mancini won the Oscar for Best Music Score that year. As stated in question 1, "The Children's Hour" tells the story of two schoolteachers accused of lesbianism by an obnoxious and bitter little girl.

12. Which movie is a Western?

From Quiz Audrey Hepburn Movies

Answer: The Unforgiven

"The Unforgiven" (1960) was directed by John Huston and, in addition to Audrey, featured Burt Lancaster and Lillian Gish. Audrey portrayed a young Native American woman who wasn't aware of her ethnic background. When she was a baby, a white family found her and raised her in the Western frontier. The family concealed her true heritage from her, raising her as their own child. However, when the Indians return to claim their sister, Audrey had to choose between her two families, resulting in a bitter and bloody battle. Audrey was not the right choice for this role. She spoke with her lilting European accent, which is beautiful, but it didn't fit this role as a Native American in the Old West. Another bit of trivia: Audrey fell off a horse and broke her back while making this movie. Filming came to a halt while she recovered.

13. "Don't let it get you down. Have a good weekend. And on Monday we'll form a tenants committee or something jazzy like that." This is a movie, where a couple of men, deceive a woman, to try and find a doll containing drugs. Do you know the title?

From Quiz Audrey Hepburn- Memorable Lines

Answer: Wait Until Dark

"Wait Until Dark" (1967), is a story of a woman recently blinded in a fire, named Suzie, played by Audrey. She is stalked and terrorized in her own apartment, by men looking for a doll containing heroin. The line is at the end of the movie. Suzie, played by Audrey, is commenting in a sarcastic way, to neighbor Shatner, because she was being stalked and had to protect herself.

14. For which movie performance was Audrey NOT nominated for a Best Actress Oscar?

From Quiz Audrey Hepburn Movies

Answer: My Fair Lady

Audrey won her only Oscar for her very first starring role, "Roman Holiday" in 1953. All of Audrey's additional nominations include "Sabrina" (1954), "The Nun's Story" (1959), "Breakfast at Tiffany's" (1961), and "Wait Until Dark" (1967). Audrey wasn't even nominated for "My Fair Lady" in 1964. All other major Oscars--Best Picture, Best Actor, and Best Director--were awarded to the film, but Audrey's performance wasn't even recognized by the Academy. Most felt that the role of Eliza Doolittle should have been played by Julie Andrews, who played the part on Broadway. However, Andrews had never made a movie and the filmmakers wanted her to do a screen test, which she refused, citing her Broadway performance as sufficient. As a result, the filmmakers cast Audrey in the part. Although I'm sure Andrews was wonderful in the stage role and sang all of the songs to perfection, I loved seeing Audrey Hepburn play the Cockney girl. It's one of her best performances. "My Fair Lady" is an adaptation of George Bernard Shaw's play, "Pygmalion." A British professor, played by Rex Harrison, is determined to transform a common Cockney flower girl into a proper-speaking English lady. He then accidentally falls in love with his "creation."

15. How many feature films did Audrey appear in with a credited role? (This does not include her uncredited parts or TV movies.)

From Quiz Audrey Hepburn Movies

Answer: 27

Audrey Hepburn only appeared in 27 films, and only 20 of those films were major starring roles. However, she still had an incredible impact on the film and fashion industries. Her first 7 movies were small parts in European films. Her first American film and major role was "Roman Holiday" in 1953. She made 16 of her films between 1953 and 1967, before she retired from movies. She made the additional four movies sporadically between 1976 and 1989. She appeared in one TV movie in 1987.
