"The O.C." debuted on Tuesday, August 5th, 2003. The main characters in the show are Ryan Atwood (Benjamin McKenzie) and his lawyer, Sandy Cohen (Peter Gallagher). Here's a quick quiz about the other characters as they appeared on the premier episode.

Ryan tries to avoid foster care. With the help of Seth, he moves into an unfinished model home that is part of one of Kirsten's developments.

Ryan becomes a part of the Cohen family. That night, at Cotillion, he and Seth will be White Knights, helping two young ladies make their debut into Newport society.

Ryan is released from jail into the custody of Sandy and Kirsten. When he returns to their house he finds someone unexpected; his mom.
