Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. If you believed someone was lying about something, what would you call their story?

Answer: Sus

"Sus" is short for suspicious, and it is not just used to question a story. It can also be used to question how effective something or someone is. For instance, "Lebron James's three point shooting is sus" or "PS5 graphics are sus".

"I knew that pizza joint was sus when they didn't send over extra chili flakes."
2. If someone is particularly effective at influencing others, through charm and appeal, what are they said to have loads of?

Answer: Rizz

"Rizz" is just the second syllable of "charisma" and is used by the TikTok generation to praise those that are good with people, particularly the opposite sex, as it is often used as an indicator of how good someone is at attracting others romantically. In short videos on the internet, bystanders are often asked how good their "rizz" is.

"The man's got rizz. Women follow him everywhere he goes."
3. If I was expressing something outlandish, and wanted to ensure you all knew I wasn't lying, what would I add at the end of my story?

Answer: No Cap

The term evolved from boasting, or going over the top, which is where "cap" or lie, comes from. The term has evolved to become a verb ("He's capping) or an object ("That story is cap"). Saying "no cap" is effectively an emphasis that the speaker is not boasting, not exaggerating, and just telling it as it is.

"The teacher was capping all afternoon. No cap."
4. If you wanted to congratulate someone on doing particularly well, what might you say they are doing?

Answer: Slaying

The term evolved from "killing it" - which itself was an earlier generation's slang to doing something great - into "slaying", which is an even more difficult and flawless kill. It may be used outside of congratulations - for instance, to complement someone's looks. "She's slaying" can just mean "She looks great".

"Slay, queen. You look like a billion dollars."
5. If I told you to meet me later that night for a drink, and you wanted to express agreement, which of the following is the appropriate way to do so?

Answer: Bet

The term is an evolution of "You bet", which had been used by earlier generations to signal acceptance, though the usage of "Bet" is much more common, so that it has basically replaced any other form of agreement for the TikTok generation.

"Alright, bet. I'll see you at 8 o'clock."
6. What might you tell your friend if you felt that they were just amazing?

Answer: You're the GOAT

GOAT stands for "Greatest of all Time" - it was established by earlier generations, and generally used to describe athletes and compare which of the athletes of a particular sport are the best of all time. Gen Z has flipped the switch on the term, and it is now much more commonly used in everyday parlance. If your friend got you a coffee before class because she knew that you'd need one, you might just tell her she's the GOAT.

"You actually finished the project on your own? You're the GOAT."
7. Which of the following terms refers to showing off?

Answer: Flexing

The term comes from "flexing muscles", which would certainly be seen as showing off one's achievements. The object can be replaced ("flexing a car") or the verb can be used in isolation - "Don't flex".

"I can't believe he was out there flexing his new job when Daniel had just lost his."
8. What is the common term for suddenly ignoring someone, particularly online?

Answer: Ghosting

The term is a verb that comes from the noun ghost. The point of the phrase is that the ignorer has effectively "become a ghost" with respect to the ignored. The ignored person can be referred to as "ghosted" while the ignorer is the "ghoster".

"If you don't want to be together, I'm fine with that. All I ask is that you don't ghost me."
9. If you are worried that you'll miss a great time, what "affliction" do you have?

Answer: FOMO

"FOMO" stands for "Fear of Missing Out", but the acronym is often just pronounced in its two-syllable form, as opposed to dissected. It is framed as a "condition" usually in jest.

"Fine, I'll skip work and go to the party with you guys. You're all lucky I have massive FOMO."
10. If you were told a story and wanted proof, what would you ask for?

Answer: Receipts

The term evolved from any business issuing a receipt upon payment as proof of payment. Similarly, any proof to back up your story, be it a text message or voice recording or video, is now called a "receipt".

"I believe Danielle when she said Mike cheated on Lara. She brought receipts."
