Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What was Miss Scarlett's family name in Margaret Mitchell's "Gone with the Wind" (1936)?

Answer: O'Hara

Katie Scarlett O'Hara was the daughter of Ellen O'Hara, née Robillard, whose wealthy family lived in Savannah, Georgia, and Gerald O'Hara, an immigrant from County Meath, Ireland. He left Ireland after falling into some trouble when he killed the rent agent of a English landlord; Gerald's two older brothers left Ireland before he did, and had become successful merchants in Savannah.

After following them there, he won the family's plantation, Tara, a house that had burned down, and a slave in a poker game; over time Gerald, with his wife's assistance, built a new house and made the plantation a successful business. Scarlett is often compared to her father as she was able to rebuild her life after the war.

6. This is the second-most intelligent animal in the Universe, just after mice, according to "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy". Their farewell message, upon leaving Earth prior to predestined disaster, is "So long and thanks for all the fish!" Which of these is being described?

Answer: Dolphins

In Douglas Adams' classic "trilogy" the dolphins were the second smartest animal in the Universe, and tried to warn humans of coming annihilation. (People just kept assuming they were being cute, when really, they were trying to communicate.) Mice come first.

The mice on Earth had been doing experiments on humans for millennia. Humans were a bit lower on the list. Pterodactyls are awesome, but not relevant here.

The books have been adapted for both television and films. 'Tom's Midnight Garden' was written by Philippa Pearce, C S Lewis created 'The Chronicles of Narnia', of which 'The Magician's Nephew' is the first chronologically, and Ruth Stiles Gannett wrote 'My Father's Dragon'.
