Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Where does the assistant director in Duel Two get the school jacket that he wears to trick Yugi?

Answer: He stole it from the locker room.

Though the action itself is not directly shown, in the first panel the assistant director is shown wearing the jacket, and there is a side note that states that it was stolen from the locker room. Stealing wouldn't be beneath him either, as he had no problem lying to, beating up, and embarrassing little Yugi for the sake of his job.
2. Which of these is not a penalty game that the spirit of the Millennium Puzzle uses to punish someone in this Volume?

Answer: Mind Crush

'Illusion of Avarice' is a penalty game that the other Yugi used against Ushio in Duel One, which made him think that he was swimming in a pile of money even though it was merely leaves and garbage. The cruel director in Duel Two is the victim of 'Mosiac Illusion', which means that everything he sees is censored by digital mosaic.

The spirit of the Millennium Puzzle punishes Sozoji in Duel Three with 'Beat Festival', which causes him to constantly hear the escalated sound of his heartbeat over everything else. 'Mind Crush' is, in fact, a penalty game that Yugi uses, and it is the only other named penalty game that we witness in the entire series, but rather than in Volume One, we see it in Volume Five, Duel Forty against none other than Seto Kaiba.
3. After Jonouchi threw the last piece of Yugi's Millennium Puzzle into the pool in Duel one, how does Yugi get it back?

Answer: Jonouchi retrieved it himself and gave it to Sugoroku to give to Yugi.

In the beginning of Duel One, Jonouchi steals a piece of Yugi's puzzle and throws it into the pool, a punishment to Yugi for not being manly enough. After Yugi defends him from Ushio and stands his ground even though he was getting severely beat up, Jonouchi's opinion of Yugi changes drastically, and he regrets throwing Yugi's puzzle piece into the pool to the point that he actually sneaks into the pool that night to retrieve and personally deliver the possession to Yugi's grandfather, who relays it to Yugi. Yugi never ends up finding out who returned his puzzle piece, because Soguroku fulfilled Jonouchi's request to not tell Yugi who he was, but the boy was so ecstatic about completing his puzzle that he did not dwell on it much.
4. What happened to the perverted tape that Jonouchi was going to let Yugi borrow in Duel Two?

Answer: Anzu took it and decided to borrow it.

The perverted tape was first mentioned by Jonouchi in Duel Two when he was explaining that no matter how closely he looked, he couldn't decipher the censored bits (this fits the theme of the chapter because both the penalty game and the documentary that the director was filming involved mosaic censoring).

Then he promised Yugi that he would let him borrow it, and he holds true to this promise at the end of the chapter when he brings the tape, titled, 'Video Girl', to school. Just as he goes to throw it to Yugi, though, Anzu intercepts it and asks what it is.

When she sees how excited they get about getting it back from her, she walks away, telling them that she's going to borrow it. The fate of the tape is left up to the readers' imagination as it is never mentioned again throughout the series.
5. Which of these objects did the spirit of the Millennium Puzzle use in his game against Yugi's schoolmate, Goro Inogashira, in Duel Six?

Answer: A cylinder of explosives

In Duel Six, we witness Class B (Yugi's class) preparing for the upcoming school festival by turning their space into a carnival game booth, an idea that they excitedly agreed on as soon as Yugi suggested it. They are interrupted, though, when senior class D representative, Goro Inoshira, and his classmates show up, claiming that the spot belongs to them, and he orders his classmates to destroy the games with their oversized grill that is used to make okonomiyaki.

When he sees how hurt Anzu is, Yami challenges Inoshira to a game that night, in which they use spatulas to hit a block of ice holding a cylinder of explosives back and forth over a steaming grill and pray that the explosives are not on their side of the grill when the ice melts.

After a bit of trouble, the spirit of the Millennium Puzzle nicks the ice and wins the game, giving his class just enough time to finish setting up their carnival games. The bottle of chloroform was actually used against the fake psychic, Kokurano, in Duel Five, and Sound Pierrots were used against Sozoji in Duel Three.
6. What excuse does Anzu give for why she, Yugi, and Jonouchi should not go to Burger World that afternoon in Duel Four?

Answer: She heard the food made people sick.

Duel Four opens with Yugi and Jonouchi becoming completely ecstatic about going to the newest Burger joint in Domino City: Burger World. What they don't know is that Anzu has a job there. In order to prevent them from finding out that she works there (an after-school job is against school rules), she tells them that the food is horrible and it caused people to get sick.

The escaped prisoner and chores were excuses that she used to escape going to the Calorie Burger, their next choice, without actually telling them where she was going.
7. What does Jonouchi drop in the hallway after thanking Yugi for being his friend in Duel One?

Answer: His shoe

The day after the incident with Ushio and Yugi's puzzle piece, Jonouchi waits in the hallway at school for Yugi. Once he gets Yugi's attention, he tells him that he has a treasure that you "can show but you can't see." After Yugi takes a few moments trying to figure it out, Jonouchi continues, "C'mon, it's friendship. Thanks for showing me that we're friends." Yugi seems completely delighted with this, but as soon as this scene is over, Jonouchi dashes off, embarrassed and disgusted with himself for saying anything so corny.

In his huge rush, he accidentally drops his shoe. Yugi picks it up and chases after him, but apparently, to Jonouchi, it was a small sacrifice, for he refuses to slow down.
8. How long did Yugi work on the Millennium Puzzle before finally completing it in Duel one?

Answer: Eight years

It is only mentioned briefly, but in the beginning of Duel One, when Yugi is explaining the importance of the puzzle to Anzu, he becomes momentarily depressed and says, "But this puzzle is major hard. I've been working on it for eight years and I've never solved it." This is further supported when he tells Anzu that he found it years ago on the back of a shelf in his family's game shop covered in dust, so he took it for himself.

This automatically makes the eight months and four months options invalid.
9. Who played the part of Bluebeard in the 'Bluebeard's Attack' carnival game in Duel Six?

Answer: Jonouchi

One of Class B's carnival games in Duel Six is the 'Bluebeard's Attack' game. In this game, someone dressed as a pirate sits in a barrel with a spring inside and switches behind random holes. When a player sticks a wooden sword into the correct hole, the spring is activated, and the poor person inside is sent flying out of the hole on top of the barrel. Jonouchi was the one in charge of making the barrel and it was left to Yugi to make the paper mache Bluebeard mask.

After Jonouchi is finished, he climbs inside to demonstrate and comments that he'll get a good laugh at whoever has to play the pirate. That's when Anzu suggests that it be him because the size of the barrel is perfect, and when Yugi nervously states that he made the mask to fit Jonouchi's head, it's settled.

At the end of the chapter, we see Jonouchi being flung out of the barrel and Anzu sarcastically notes that he looks like he's having fun.
10. Which of these is not mentioned when Yugi thinks about the things that Honda makes Yugi do for him?

Answer: Give him his lunch and/or money

Honda is first introduced in Duel One when he and Jonouchi are harassing Yugi, and again when Ushio punishes them for it. We don't see him again until Duel Seven when he and Jonouchi come to ask Yugi for advice on Honda's current love predicament. As Yugi watches them approach, he remembers how Honda always makes him carry his stuff and buy dirty magazines for him. Stealing his lunch and money is never mentioned. Thankfully, though, by the end of the chapter, things change between them, and, by volume two, we begin to see a different side of Honda.
