'The Twilight Zone' aired on CBS from 1958-1964 for a total of 5 seasons and 156 episodes. The opening narration was recorded by Rod Serling, the screenwriter and producer of the series.
Serling's voice, a blend of rhythmic cadence, low voice, and dramatic storytelling, was ideal for the show's premise: regular, unextraordinary people immersed in strange, unsettling, or otherworldly situations that Serling famously describes as the 'middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition'.
