Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The game starts with DK digging his way to a lode of Banandium in which location on the planet's surface?

Answer: Ingot Isle

Far off the shores of DK Isle, at Ingot Isle, Donkey Kong will be working away digging through the mines for a mother lode of Banandium, a gem-like banana substance that acts as one of the major gets of the game. Sure enough, he'll strike gold the more he digs around the caverns here, but the minute he finds what he's looking for, the location will be struck by some nasty capitalists from the Void Company who, in their effort to dig deeper into the planet, will create a devastating sinkhole and send DK off on an adventure to save everyone and everything in the world.
2. Throughout the game, DK must collect Banandium Gems. Most of these are collected when he does which of these actions?

Answer: Punches them

Although these bananas come in different colours and in singles and bunches, the point is the same-- DK will need to break them to pieces to claim and eat them, powering himself up and accumulating more and more throughout the adventure. Generally, larger bunches of these (counting for more) come after significant boss battles and as he passes through to new worlds entirely.

This said, many Layers of the game contain up to six or seven dozen Banandium Gems. There are a lot to find, and some don't even materialize until you beat the final boss.
3. Early in the game, DK encounters an Odd Rock that follows him on his adventure through the planet. Who is this character revealed to be?

Answer: Pauline

DK will encounter the 'Odd Rock' when he locates the crater in Ingot Isle, shortly after Void Company makes a mess of the surface location, and it will accompany him as he descends into the Sinkhole created by their machinery. The rock will be revealed as Pauline when they meet the game's first Elder, the Monkey Elder, in the Lagoon Layer and they learn how to perform their music together.

It'll break apart the Void that imprisoned her, and Pauline will continue as a cooperative buddy from that point on.
4. How many Bananza Forms does DK receive in the game?

Answer: Five

There are five Elders throughout "Donkey Kong Bananza", and each one will teach DK and Pauline a Bananza Power, activated when they perform together in order to transform DK into a new, empowered animal of some sort. In addition to the Kong Bananza, making DK a stronger monkey, they'll encounter the Zebra Bananza in the Freezer Layer, the Ostrich Bananza in the Forest Layer, the Snake Bananza in the Radiance Layer, and the Elephant Bananza in the Tempest Layer. All of them are needed to get all the Banandium Gems in the game.
5. Fossils are used to purchase which of these game elements?

Answer: Styles

Nearly every Layer of the game features Fossils in some way or another, and while smaller Layers contain only one small Fossil type, the larger ones contain three of different sizes. All of these, when collected in quantity, can be used to purchase costume items, some of which will give bonuses to DK and Pauline when worn, but some of which will apply cosmetic changes to DK's fur. In any case, Fossils can be spent for these pieces at any Styletone or dedicated costume shop, and these items can be swapped out at any wardrobe, including those in Getaways.

There's even a Fossil Museum in the Groove Layer if you can find a way inside.
6. Worlds in the game are split into Layers. These are further split into which of these?

Answer: Sublayers

Navigating the massive inner world of "Donkey Kong Bananza" can get confusing quite quickly. All of the game's distinctive worlds are referred to as 'Layers' as they're carved out of stacked pockets, one on top of the next, and encountered as DK drops through sinkholes in each one. These Layers are then split into Sublayers, navigated by passing through smaller sinkholes that divide these destinations into subregions. For instance, in the Lagoon Layer, the first Sublayer is mostly land-based, but the one beneath is set in a massive, water-filled lagoon, and the one under that includes a handful of treacherous walls and platforms...and the one under that is a cavern.

Some Layers include a single Sublayer while others can contain up to ten.
7. Tuning Forks act as Checkpoints for DK throughout the game. He can teleport to them with which of these types of creatures?

Answer: Eels

As DK traverses the Layers and Sublayers that make up the world of "Bananza", Tuning Forks can be revealed to mark key waypoints on the journey, acting as spots where he can either return upon death or locations to which he can teleport. The catch is, however, that the term in this game is 'Teeleport' since navigating these spots is done by being gulped up by the Eelevators-- Li'l ones if you're just traveling to different spots within the same Layer, but big ones when you go between Layers altogether.
8. Throughout the game, DK can boost certain skills to gain stronger abilities. Which is not amongst them?

Answer: Increased swim speed

DK can't swim-- at least not beneath the surface of the water-- so a skill of this type wouldn't really be necessary. In fact, keeping this in mind can be very helpful, as securing underwater Banandium Gems can simply be a case of clever diving or alternative means of lowering the water.

For everything else, DK can boost his capabilities by collecting and spending Banandium Gems from his menu screen. Five Gems gains him one skill point, and these can do everything from increase quantities of necessary items to increase health and strength to boost Bananza Power abilities. You won't be able to max out all of these until well after the adventure is complete, simply due to the quantity of available Banandium Gems, so pick wisely!
9. One substance-- Void-- can not be destroyed via normal means. What colour is this substance?

Answer: Purple

An almost-magical substance brought on by Void King's All-Mine Remote (shaped like a banana), Void is purple in nature and usually comes from a device, also created for the sake of sustaining problems in the game, called a Terravoider. Almost all Void can be destroyed in some way, and this usually involves singing to rid the offending machinery of its protective barriers, then punching it until it's destroyed.

Some enemies can also become covered in Void, so removing this hazard as it's encountered is the best course of action. Almost all other terrain can be destroyed, even if it's very durable.
10. The final boss of the game is who of these?

Answer: King K. Rool

Although you'll fight Void King before dropping into the Planet Core, ending the evil machinations of Void Company and their quest for power through money, King K. Rool will be freed by this battle and it'll spur on the bigger threat to get his hands on the Banandium Root. K. Rool's dreams will be to rot the planet from the inside out, so the fight against him, especially when he powers up, will be necessary and hard.

It will all culminate in a fight next to New Donk City Hall where, fuelled by this same rot, K. Rool will put everything he has into defeating DK and Pauline. If they can knock him out, though, they can make their own dreams a reality and save the world.
