In Other Words Trivia

A cliché is something that is said often and conveys an idea or message. It compares one word or phrase to another, when they are really nothing alike. I'll write each cliche in a synonymous form and you write down which cliche it represents. Have fun!

The second installment of literature being put into different words. One example would be Black Beauty=Ebony Gorgeous

These Nursery Rhymes were taken from the collection, "Early Reading for Genius Progeny". I supplied the first few lines. Can you identify the titles? Note: This quiz was written under the old rules that allowed punctuation, so act accordingly.

Each answer is the name of a pair, real or fictional. Just answer the two parts of the question and join them with 'and' to get the pair. e.g. Male turkey and British name for a German in WWII. Answer = Tom and Jerry

Tom Swift has become Agent 006. These are normal fill-in-the-blank Tom Swifties. For example: "I've got a code in ma node," Tom Swift said, stuffily. "I have no hints where he went," Tom said, cluelessly. But no excuses! He can still find this bad guy!

Using word play, I've 'hidden' a one-word American city in a sentence. The clues will consist of two or more consecutive words, and a hint to the city's home state will be provided. I've included an example before Question one. Have fun!

All of the answers in this quiz are words beginning with 'en'. You must add another word, for which a clue is given, to 'en' and find the answer to the definition. The total number of letters in the answer is given after each clue.

These "Tom Swifty" puns all end with the NATO alphabet codes "India, Lima, Yankee," or "ily" in plain English. The format is a quoted phrase paired with an adverb to create a pun. For example: "These cereal flakes are great!" Tom exclaimed cornily.

Change one letter of each word to find the correct saying. No punctuation and I'll give you an example in Q1. Good luck!

It's quite simple really... You will be given a phrase, and it is your job to decipher which food the phrase represents. ie. For "One who creates large floating blocks of ice.", the answer would be "Burger". There are no plurals.
