Answer: Captain Pelleaon

Pelleaon had a long history in the navy, both for the Republic and the Empire. He became the captain of Thrawn's flagship, the Chimera. He was a capable officer, but still had trouble keeping up with Thrawn's insights and plans. He was often amazed when Thrawn's intuition turned out to be correct. Pealleaon would go on to become an Admiral himself. Where Thrawn studied his enemies' art, Pelleaon took up gardening for similar insights. After Disney acquired "Star Wars" and reset the canon, they hired Timothy Zahn to write a new trilogy of books to introduce Thrawn to the new canon (twenty-six years later!). In the new series, Thrawn himself was a viewpoint character.

A beckon call was a device used by ship owners to make their ships fly in a straight line towards them. Luke found one in the previous novel, and Lando's ship had one installed.

Thrawn had Dreadnaughts equipped with cloaking devices sneak through the shield during normal traffic hours. Then, his Star Destroyer showed up. It bombarded the shield, with the Dreadnaughts hiding just beneath it. The Dreadnaughts fired in sync with the blasts, creating the illusion of firing unimpeded through the shield. This coordination was only possible with the crews of the Dreadnaughts controlled by C'Baoth through the Force.

Garm Bel Iblis was a founder of the Rebel Alliance, but left early on when he became suspicious of Mon Mothma's ambitions. Mothma turned out to be a noble leader, but Bel Iblis was too proud to ask to rejoin. He was open to rejoining the New Republic, but he wanted to be officially asked to do so. Bel Iblis would appear in the 2008 video game "The Force Unleashed", which featured the founding of the Rebellion.

If you have read the "Hand of Thrawn" books you should have gotten this one a bit easier,if you haven't read them, you still could have gotten it. The Empire of the Hand is an empire formed out of Thrawn's secret base. You don't really hear that much about it after this book, but it's pretty cool.
