Fun Trivia
In the fictional country of Amestris, alchemists can use Transmutation Circles to create almost anything (but they are not allowed to transmute humans and gold - this has been attempted, but never successfully). They must sacrifice something of equal value, according the the Law of Equivalent Values; however, this law can be circumvented through the use of the Philosopher's Stone.

4. As chapter 13 of "Fullmetal Alchemist", titled "Fullmetal Body", begins, Edward has just finished a battle, but Alphonse is still in the middle of one. Who arrive(s) to end the fight?

From Quiz Equivalent Exchange: "Fullmetal Alchemist" Vol 4

Answer: Second Lieutenant Ross and Sergeant Brosh

Sergeant Brosh fires two bullets, hitting number 66 (Alphonse's attacker) in the hand and causing him to drop his weapon. After some banter between number 66 and Ross and Brosh, the threat of an explosion causes number 66 to retreat. Lust and Envy are nearby, but they are too preoccupied with Edward to visit Alphonse at that point.

5. At the beginning of chapter 5, "The Alchemist's Suffering", Edward is being informed by Roy Mustang about an alchemist, Shou Tucker, who created a chimera that could speak like a human. However, this chimera would only say one thing. What was it?

From Quiz Equivalent Exchange: "Fullmetal Alchemist" Vol 2

The creation of this chimera earned Tucker a state alchemist's certification. Unfortunately, this chimera wanted to die so badly that it refused to eat and passed away shortly after its creation.

6. How is Al's soul tied to his armor?

Answer: A pocket watch

The pocket watch is used as proof that Edward is a state alchemist. The onlookers ended up stripping Edward down to his underwear, making the watch an easy steal. The thief is a girl by the name of Paninya and once Edward finds her, a chase ensues that lasts the remainder of the chapter. At one point, Paninya is captured in an alchemically created cage only to quickly break free because, as it turns out, she has two automail legs which she uses to break the bars of the cage. She is eventually caught by Winry, who asks to examine Paninya's legs.

From Quiz Equivalent Exchange: "Fullmetal Alchemist" Vol 3

Answer: Three days

Ed expected that it would take a week for Pinako to build a new arm from scratch and adjust his leg. However, ambitious Pinako says she can complete both (with Winry's help) in just three days. In fact, it was Tucker's own dog, Alexander, and his own daughter, Nina, that he used to create this chimera. Ed became infuriated and punched Tucker until Alphonse stopped him.

10. Edward Elric suspected that Cornello's "miracles" were simply alchemy. However, there was something different about the alchemy that Cornello was performing that couldn't normally happen. What was it?

From Quiz Equivalent Exchange: "Fullmetal Alchemist" Vol 1

Answer: Cornello ignored alchemical laws

One of the main laws of alchemy, according to "Fullmetal Alchemist", is called "equivalent exchange". This means that in order to create something, you must sacrifice something of equal value. For example, if you wanted to make a wooden desk, you would need to have something wooden available, like a tree, in order to make that desk. Cornello was not sacrificing anything to create the items he was creating. By the way, no incantations need to be said and there is no rule that states alchemy can't be done in the open.

11. How did Edward and Alphonse Elric's mother die?

From Quiz The Quiz Alchemist

Answer: A sickness

This was a sad moment, indeed. After Hoenhiem left, Trisha had two young alchemists to worry about so that they don't die under a pile of their father's books (as Sheska almost did).
