Claire then praises him for being so brilliant, comparing him to Madame Curie and Jonas Salk.

One of the male assistants explains halothane is a "dissociative agent" because it "paralyzes motor functions" but leaves the mouse conscious. Moreover, it can be used "on all mammals". This is note-worthy information for the viewer, since Norman will use halothane on Claire later in the movie.
