In 'Avalon' we meet Cam Mitchell, and through flashbacks learn that he led the dogfight over Antarctica when Anubis attacked Earth (season 7's 'Lost City'). Expecting to lead SG-1, Mitchell is somewhat surprised to find that the members that he regards as SG-1 have disbanded: Carter has gone to Area 51, Teal'c is helping to build the new Free Jaffa Nation, and Daniel is about to head off to Atlantis.

2. At the beginning of the episode a group of soldiers were playing cards when the Stargate opened and aliens stepped through. What happened to the soldiers?

Answer: Four were killed and one was kidnapped

At the beginning, there were four male soldiers and one female playing poker while 'guarding' the gate. When the aliens appeared, one soldier made it to a phone and called for help before being shot and killed. Help arrived just as the aliens were about to depart. This was the first time we saw General Hammond and he witnessed the kidnap of the female soldier.

3. In the first episode of season seven Daniel Jackson returns, but how does he return?

The first episode of season 7 is titled 'Fallen'. Daniel ascended towards the end of season 5 (Meridian) and spent season 6 as an ascended being. Daniel Jackson appeared to both Teal'c and Jack O'Neill when they were in peril during season 6. Breaking the rules of the Ascended too many times meant that Daniel was returned to human form as punishment.

4. In the opening episode 'Small Victories', SG-1 is no sooner reunited when the Asgard arrive needing help. How does Sam Carter help them?
