Scene: The Returners' Hideout. Shortly before the split-party junction. Locke Cole, being a thie... ahem... Treasure Hunter, gets his moment in the spotlight by splitting from the group to infiltrate South Figaro, where the Empire has declared Martial Law. This would allow, according to Banon, enough time for the rest of the group, including Terra, to get back to Narshe. Locke heads back to South Figaro and has a "Metal Gear Solid" moment for about thirty minutes, sneaking around and steali... er... 'finding' various items. Just exactly how his actions "slow the Empire down" though, is never explained.

Runic Blades are pretty much all swords and daggers, which Celes can equip most of. Some examples are Mythril Blade and Crystal Sword. Other weapons like maces and wands do not have this ability.

I only counted the main twelve characters and the main secret characters. I did not include Banon, Wedge, Biggs/Vicks, the Moogles, or Kutan (who can be used instead of Celes by getting Locke to walk out of South Figaro without saving Celes). I also did not include Maduin the esper. He is not truly playable as you can't see his stats or get in any battles with him, but you do walk around as him for one scene.

Obviously, Gau calls Cyan this due to his archaic way of speaking. At one point, humorously, he calls Sabin this. Sabin: "HE'S Mr. Thou, not me!"

Most people walk right past this one! Enter the underground passage after flipping the secret switch on the clock in the rich man's house. Open the first treasure chest you see and walk up, then right. Walk along the walls and you'll discover a secret path that will lead to some stairs. The stairs take you to a room where you'll find two chests. One contains an Ether, the other an X-Potion. Below the chest containing the X-Potion is a hidden chest that holds a Ribbon. The Ribbon protects against all negative status ailments except instant death. Not to mention everyone can equip it. Very useful indeed!

Fire Dance is number four, a mass fire elemental attack. Aurabolt is number two, a pearl elemental attack on one enemy. Mantra is fifth, a healing technique that heals all party members but Sabin. Air Blade is sixth, a mass air-elemental attack.

There are quite a lot of Espers. Other 'Final Fantasy' games have fewer than 27 Summon-like Magic. All of their names will crop up at least once in my quiz, so if you're not sure, just look out for them. Espers have many uses in 'Final Fantasy VI', including teaching you magic, helping your characters get stronger, and also providing powerful attacks.

Jidoor's auction house contains several random items. Some are useful, such as Magicite and relics. Others aren't, such as an Imp Robot and 1/1200 of an airship. The latter two cannot be purchased by the player, even if the player has over 1,000,000 GP! Owzer owns a mansion in the northern part of Jidoor with several paintings, complete with a not-so-still still life of flowers! The Opera House near Jidoor offers two boss battles, one with Ultros the octopus and one with the Dirt Dragon. The colisseum is north of Kohlingen in the World of Ruin, where you can bet your items in hopes of acquiring better (or sometimes worse) quality items by winning a battle.

Chaos Wing (from the Maduin esper, Terra's father) is a non-elemental attack, but as such, it can't play off of any weaknesses either. Sea Song is a water elemental summon from the Bismarck esper. Tri-Dazer is a fire/ice/thunder elemental attack from the Tritoch esper. Demon Eye comes from the Shoat esper, and has the potential to petrify one enemy.

Locke is a treasure hunter who steal items from enemies in battle. He also has the "Capture" command that allows him to steal from an enemy and attack them at the same time.

Odin is located in the Ancient Castle underneath the desert of Figaro Castle in the World of Ruin. The Esper teaches Meteor, a spell that only two Espers can teach. Odin also grants you a Speed +1 stat bonus for every level up of a character who equips him.

Unfortunately, it went wrong, and when Locke's life was in danger, Rachel was actually the one to protect him - but took the brunt of a fall herself. Thereafter, she was rendered an amnesiac, and, not knowing who Locke was, this meant their relationship came to an end anyway and only renewed the fury of her father.

Dullahan is found in Darryl's Tomb early in the World, a point in which the player is still picking up the proverbial pieces with Celes. With no Locke, character who can wield the Thief Knife, or items that can be wagered for the Merit Award, it is virtually impossible to steal without the use of codes or the Sketch Glitch.

Scene: Mt. Kolbs, heading to the Returners' Hideout. Though not quite "Street Fighter" caliber, the duel between Sabin and Vargas is actually pretty fun in terms of gameplay and story. Sabin does indeed prove himself quite the bear as the game progresses- I would guess that his blitz 'Bum Rush' is used more than any other move by most players, second only to Gogo's mimicking of Sabin's blitzing.

Tritoch teaches Fire 3, Bolt 3, and Ice 3, making him a very useful esper to get party members up to speed late in the game. You originally meet him in one of the first scenes in the game, and Terra has a strange reaction with him after the battle at Narshe, morphing and flying off to Zozo. You will not get him as an esper until the World of Ruin.

Answer: Fake Mustache

Fake Mustache is another useful item. To find it, fly to the triangular island in the northeast corner of the map in the World of Ruin. Fight a ZoneEater and allow it to inhale your entire party. You'll actually find yourself in the monster's belly--along with some rare items to boot! The Fake Mustache can be found here. It upgrades Relm's Sketch command to Control. With this technique, Relm can render an enemy completely incapacitated, allowing her to use all of the enemy's own attacks against it. This is a convenient way to unlock many Lores, which is useful for Strago. Which other character can use this handy relic? Gogo the mimic, of course.

By equipping Relm with the Fake Moustache relic found insode the Zone Eater, Sketch becomes Control. She will take control of one monster, and then command the monster with its own moves until the monster is hit. This is a great way to get Lore spells for Strago.

Although Bismark deals water-elemental damage to all enemies, there is no Water magic spell, so it teaches you Fire, Ice, Bolt (at a rate of x20!)and also Life (at a slower rate of x2). Maduin teaches Fire2, Ice2 and Bolt2, but deals non-elemental damage to all enemies. Triroch teaches you the third level of these spells at a rate of x1 each, and actually deals fire, ice and lightning-elemental damage to all enemies.

The Hidon will teach Strago one of his more powerful lores, the GrandTrain (as long as you don't beat him too quickly). Phunbaba is fought in Mobliz a few times before his defeat. Doom Gaze is fought randomly in the sky in the World of Ruin; he carries the Bahamut magicite shard. Chupon is unbeatable. The last time you beat Ultros on the way to the Floating Continent is the first time you meet Chupon. He sneezes the party away. You can also fight Chupon in the colisseum north of Kohlingen in the World of Ruin, but according to Squaresoft, it is impossible to win.

Yep. These two have the ability to learn certain spells on their own. Terra's ability stems from her esper heritage courtesy of Maduin, while Celes' ability comes from the alterations that made her a Magitek Knight. While Strago learns spells without equipment or Magicite, these are "Lore" spells, not "Magic" spells.
