Some of the items cannot be purchased with Koins, but rather unlocked with Krypt Keys which come from the gold chests in Konquest Mode. There are some gold chests that will only appear at specific dates and times within the game.

This also allows him to travel freely among the realms, leaving the only thing preventing him from World Domination being Quan Chi's amulet. The entire adventure you are led to believe that you are the Champion of the Elder Gods, when you are a pawn for evil who actually defeats the real Champion of the Elder Gods along the way.

This was a very big plot twist. Scorpion was always thought to have been a bad guy, but it turns out the Gods saw great potential in him. Hopefully he doesn't find out that Noob-Saibot was the Sub-Zero he killed in "Mortal Kombat".
