You Don't Know Jack Trivia Questions

1. The majority of the questions in the "You Don't Know Jack" series are of what style?

From Quiz
Do You Know Jack?

Answer: Multiple choice

There are usually four answers to choose from for the multiple choice questions. If you decide to buzz in before the multiple choices appear, you are forced to guess the answer without even knowing the choices. Good luck! Fill in the blank questions do appear, but they are rather rare.

2. Who was the first host?

From Quiz You Don't Know Jack!

Answer: Nate

Nate was voiced by series creator Harry Gottlieb. He's considered one of the better hosts, but Mr. Gottlieb doesn't like being in a cramped sound booth, so "Nate" only hosted a couple of games.

3. What former children's show personality hosted ABC's "You Don't Know Jack" TV show?

From Quiz You Don't Know Jack!

Answer: Paul Reubens

Paul Reubens, better known as Pee-Wee Herman and "that guy who got busted in the adult theater", played the host, Troy Stevens. That's right, despite it being a LIVE show, the host was still a character. Suffice it to say that the show's brand of humor would not be Fred Rogers' cup of tea. If you don't know who Fred Rogers is, ask anyone who was a child in the '60s, '70s, '80s, or '90s, and you should get an immediate answer. Bob Keeshan was better known as "Captain Kangaroo". Duncan Brannan, aside from being someone I went to church with for a while, was one of the fellows who put on that purple dinosaur suit to become Barney.

4. How many choices do you have during a "Dis or Dat" question?

From Quiz Do You Know Jack?

Answer: Two or three

A "Dis or Dat" question is only for the player who selected the question. You are asked to choose whether a series of items fits the first category, the second category and on occasion, both. For example, you may be asked if a series of items is a variety of cheese or a movie monster. The "Dis or Dat" category was first introduced in "You Don't Know Jack Volume 2".

5. In the series, what is a "Tinkerlick Testrum" better known as?

From Quiz Do You Know Jack?

Answer: Gibberish Question

The "Gibberish Question" is a staple element which has appeared in almost every game in the series. It is very similar to the game called "Mad Gab". During this question, you are given a obscure nonsensical phrase, which rhymes with a common word or phrase. Your goal is to identify what it rhymes with. The host will usually tell you what kind of thing the answer is (person, movie quote, book title, etc.).

6. There was a "You Don't Know Jack" Netshow for a while. Did you play it? Let's hope so, because I need you to tell me what online gaming site carried it.

From Quiz You Don't Know Jack!

Answer: Bezerk

Bezerk, which later became Flipside, was part of won.net, which was basically a giant free online gaming website. The Fifth Dementia also offered online play, albeit not through Flipside.

7. While playing "You Don't Know Jack Volume 3", you come across an "Impossible Question". What is the point value of this question if you answer correctly?

From Quiz Do You Know Jack?

Answer: $20,000

An "Impossible Question" is not "impossible", but it is usually extremely hard. It shows up in Round 2 of a 21-question game. It's a very high-risk question - If you choose the wrong answer, you lose $20,000!

8. In the older, pre-The Ride games, what is the maximum value for a regular multiple choice question?

From Quiz You Don't Know Jack!

Answer: $6,000

The highest increment of any given regular multiple choice question is $6,000. In the later games, the players select the value of the question as opposed to the category, so the amount you're playing for can vary anywhere from little more than $100 to around $13,000.

9. Alright, you're nearing the end, and it's time for a Gibberish or Anagram Question. How many clues do you get before time runs out?

From Quiz You Don't Know Jack!

Answer: Three

In the Gibberish and Anagram questions, you start with a given amount (in the older games, it was $10,000; in later games, players determined the amount). As time goes on, the value of the question decreases, but you'll hear up to three clues. (You can buzz in at any time). Of course, the first clue is quite esoteric, the third clue is almost a dead giveaway, and the second clue varies between these extremes.

10. According to the hosts of "You Don't Know Jack Movies" and "You Don't Know Jack Television", what actress is "never the right answer"?

From Quiz Do You Know Jack?

Answer: Shannon Tweed

Shannon Tweed is a Canadian actress who has appeared in various movies and television shows. She married Gene Simmons, who was a member of the band "KISS", in 2011. There are several questions that include Shannon Tweed as one of the options in these two game versions, with all of them being the wrong answer.

11. There's a certain mechanism that allows you to force your fellow players to answer a question. What is it?

From Quiz You Don't Know Jack!

Answer: A screw

Stymied by a question? Think your opponent is just as clueless as you are? Buzz in, press the "S" key, and use the screw on your neighbor! They'll HAVE to answer it. In "The Ride", you were also allowed to keep hitting the "S" key to obscure the question and answers from view.

12. What is the stage name for the host of "You Don't Know Jack Volume 3"?

From Quiz Do You Know Jack?

Answer: Cookie Masterson

Cookie Masterson is the stage name of Tom Gottlieb. Cookie has been part of several games in the "You Don't Know Jack" series, including the original game, "Volume 2" "Volume 3", "Movies", "Sports" and the "Netshow". Troy Stevens, who was played by Paul Reubens, was in fact the host of the television series "You Don't Know Jack", which was cancelled after only six episodes. Tom Gottlieb was the announcer for this television show.

13. OK, so let's assume you use said mechanism to force your opponent to answer. They get it right. What happens next?

From Quiz You Don't Know Jack!

Answer: You lose cash in the amount of the question.

Ah, yes. If your opponent should be put on the spot and they should answer the question correctly, you'll lose some cash. The host will usually make a snide remark, too.

14. In the original game, what is always the last question?

From Quiz Do You Know Jack?

Answer: Jack Attack

The "Jack Attack" appears in virtually every game in the series. You must match a series of answers to words associated to it. The associated word must fit the clue given at the beginning of the "Jack Attack", or else it will be incorrect.

15. Well, you've made it to the Jack Attack. Congratulations! How many questions will you have to answer in this round?

From Quiz You Don't Know Jack!

Answer: Seven

The Jack Attack, which is the last round of play, features one clue and seven questions. For example, if the clue is "What Are You Afraid Of?" and you see "arachnophobia" on the screen, you're going to buzz in when you see the word "spiders". Thank you for playing. And remember, YOU...DON'T...KNOW...JACK!
