Plunge into "The Abyss" Trivia Quiz

Just before the opening credits, there's a quote in the film by the philosopher named Friedrich Nietzsche which reads like this, "...when you look long into an abyss, the abyss also looks into you." This refers to the film's title since the central plot refers to a group of people who look into deep waters to locate a lost submarine with warheads.

The abyss in this sense refers to the water where the group is looking for the submarine and then another life force looks back at them from the water's bottom floor.

Bud and Lindsey used their mini-sub to damage Coffey's and his mini-sub began to fall down the ocean.

After Lt. Coffey died, Lindsey and Bud realized their mini-sub had been damaged and water began to flood inside. There was only one wet suit and Lindsey told Bud he should wear it and then swim back to the platform where the other team members were while carrying Lindsey with him. Once there, Bud would revive Lindsey since it was her hope the cold water could keep her alive but unconscious.

When Bud and Lindsey got back to the platform, a defibrillator was used on Lindsey but she would not wake up. Bud then used traditional CPR tactics in order to revive Lindsey and he was successful.

After Lt. Coffey made it known he intended to use a warhead to kill the alien species down on the ocean's floor, he attempted to escape by using a mini-sub so Bud confronted him about this. The two fought and it was at one point during the fight when Lt. Coffey got out a knife so Bud used a nearby pipe as defense against Lt. Coffey.

There was a moment during the fight when Lt. Coffey strangled Bud with some cords. At the end of the fight, someone got into the room where Lt. Coffey and Bud fought and punched Lt. Coffey in the face. Lt. Coffey then got into the mini sub and headed down to the bottom of the ocean.

Bud was doing some work on the vessel when someone notified him that he had a phone call. Bud asked who it was so the person said it was from the people who hired them to locate the nuclear submarine. Lindsey was seen on the vessel inspecting a device in it to see if she could send some power to other parts of the vessel. Bud was right next to her so she told him what she wanted to do and also mentioned to him that transporting the power would cause the heaters to lose power and become inactive. One of the landmarks which could be seen during these scenes was the Golden Gate Bridge located in San Francisco, California.

At this time, Bud was down with the alien species on the ocean floor and asked them to prevent the world from being destroyed. The alien species used their special powers and managed to roll back the water into the ocean and save the world from destruction.
