Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "You May Be Right": If on Friday night "I crashed your party", on what day did I say, "I'm sorry"?

Answer: Saturday

In the first song on the album "You May Be Right", the very first two lines of the song state, "Friday night I crashed your party. Saturday I said I'm sorry." In perhaps a nod to the album title, the very first sound you hear on this song is glass breaking. It's kind of cool and attention getting and sounds awesome in headphones!
2. "Sometimes a Fantasy" is the song. Finish the lyric: "But I really needed stimulation. Though it was _________"

Answer: only my imagination

It's not hard to figure out what this song is about from the lyrics...but the video gives an even clearer view. If you see it, watch for the other character that Billy plays.
3. "Don't Ask Me Why": What do "all the servants in your new hotel" do?

Answer: throw their roses at your feet

This is an interesting song about, presumably, a woman who has grown up trying to cover up a less than happy childhood. She tries to fool herself into thinking she's happy and content because she owns a hotel and has money but Billy knows the real her and tries to convince her that just having material wealth and keeping herself busy doesn't change who she is and who she was as a child.
4. "It's Still Rock and Roll to Me" is the song. Finish the lyric:"Don't you know about the new fashion, honey. All you need are looks ___________"

Answer: and a whole lot of money.

What a high energy song this is!
5. In the song "All For Leyna", Billy sings about a woman who treats him nicely.

Answer: False

VERY false. In this song, Billy is obsessed with this woman "Leyna" even though she hurt him over and over again and thinking all the time that she "may drop over to say, she's changed her mind" about breaking up with him.
6. In the song "I Don't Want to be Alone", what did "she" tell Billy to wear to the Plaza Hotel?

Answer: a jacket and a tie

The exact lyric is: "She said she'd meet me in the bar at the Plaza Hotel, wear a jacket and a tie."
7. What is Billy Joel holding in his hand on the cover of "Glass Houses"

Answer: a rock

Yes, on the cover you see him aiming a rock at a giant glass window on a house. The rumor was that it was his own house but I've never seen anything that proves that. Anyway, it was a clever image to depict that phrase, "People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones." It means that you shouldn't criticize other people because you are vulnerable to criticism as well.

In a way, the entire album includes songs about people who are vulnerable so "Glass Houses" was definitely a choice title for the album.
8. Billy Joel sings in another language in one of the songs on the album

Answer: true

Yes, there is one song called, "C'Etait Toi(You were the one)" in which Billy sings a verse in French. Well, it isn't really an original verse. He repeats an English verse but in French.
9. What is interesting about the back cover of "Glass Houses"

Answer: Billy's behind broken glass

It's kind of cool in a way because the front cover shows him aiming a rock and the back shows him behind broken glass with a hole in the middle...almost saying that he's throwing the rock at himself.
10. "Through the Long Night" is the song. Finish the lyric: Oh, what has it cost you, I almost lost you ____________"

Answer: a long long time ago.

This slow, pensive song is the last on the album and quite a vast departure from the edgy "Close to the Borderline" just previous to this track.
