Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What frequency range is the High Frequency band?

Answer: 3 to 30 MHz

The HF band is based on frequencies 3 to 30 Mhz. AM radio stations are in the HF band but normally are stated in kilohertz.
2. Is the length of an antenna is based on the frequency range it is used for? (For example the lower the frequency the longer or shorter the antenna.)

Answer: Yes

Antennas are built to a certain length depending on the frequency, due to the wavelength of the radio waves.
3. What does AM mean?

Answer: amplitude modulation

Amplitude modulation was the first type to be used in radio. It works well with HF and morse code.
4. Do radio waves travel at virtually the speed of light?

Answer: Yes

Radio waves always travel at the speed of light in a vacuum, and just below in air, but sound is much slower.
5. What type of waves does television usually use?

Answer: ultra high frequency (UHF)

There are also some VHF television channels, but most are in the UHF spectrum.
