Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. How many skills (a jump, salto, or drop) were in the passes for each level (1-10)?

Answer: 10

In the passes that were effective in 2004, there were 8 skills.
2. In which level of trampolining did you first create a second pass to compete (an optional pass)?

Answer: 9

Last quadrennium, it was level 10. They have made the levels more difficult as time goes on.
3. In what level was connected saltos (flips without extra jumps in between. Example: front tuck, back tuck) first competed?

Answer: 7

The last two skills of the pass are a back tuck and a barani (front with a half twist) tuck.
4. Which level introduced 3/4 somersaults (a front salto to your back, or a back salto to your stomach)?

Answer: 8

In level 8, the first skill was a 3/4 somersault tuck. You start to do a front tuck, kick out to an arch at vertical, and then fold over to your back. This can be a very nervewracking skill.
5. What is the minimum degree of difficulty that you could obtain by completing the level 10 compulsory pass without any interruptions (such as an extra jump)?

Answer: 5.1

This was the minimum DD for for the optional pass as well. Gymnasts had a chance for a bonus in the first skill of the compulsory, if they choose to do an arabian 3/4 front straight, instead of a normal 3/4 front straight.
6. How many straight jumps were in the level 1 pass?

Answer: 5

The final 5 skills were straight jumps. This pass was likely used by most gyms as an evaluation of the jumps that younger kids could do.
7. In several passes, "return to feet", or "half twist to feet", was considered a skill.

Answer: True

In many passes you returned to your feet from a front drop, back drop, or seat drop.
8. In which level were twisting somersaults first introduced into the pass?

Answer: 7

In level 7, the final skill was a barani, which was a front flip with 180 degrees of twist. Twisting more than 180 degrees was not required until level 9.
9. In what level was the front drop (sometimes known as a stomach drop) introduced?

Answer: 2

In the level 2 pass, a gymnast would go from a hands and knees drop, to a front drop, and then return to a hands and knees drop. Hands and knees drops are incredibly painful if you have bad knees.
10. What is the lowest level of competition that is takes place at Junior Olympic Nationals?

Answer: 5

This had remained constant since the JO Nationals were established.
