Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The game begins when which of the following characters crashes on Planet Veldin?

Answer: Clank

While Ratchet resides on the dismal Planet Veldin in the beginning of the game, it's Clank, in an attempt to flee a sentry-bot factory, who crashes down on Veldin. Ratchet and Clank partner up, each fulfilling the needs the other requires, to stop the evil Chairman Drek from harvesting materials from other planets (mainly by taking large chunks of them, spinning them off their orbits and dooming them to what will likely be certain death).

Their first stop is Planet Novalis, where Ratchet collects the Bomb Glove, and they continue onward seeking someone who may be able to assist them in their quest.
2. Which of the following items contains coordinates needed for Ratchet and Clank to travel to new planets?

Answer: Infobot

Throughout the game, Ratchet and Clank must travel from planet to planet in the Solana Galaxy to accomplish their goals and, ultimately, save the planets from the evil Chairman Drek (before he starts taking parts of them). To do so, they must locate Infobots in different parts of the game, unlocking new destinations all along the way. To get the first infobot sending them to planet Aridia, Ratchet and Clank need to spend 500 Bolts to purchase it off a plumber on Planet Novalis.
3. Much of the first act of the game involves searching for what popular space captain who, as it turns out, is working for Chairman Drek?

Answer: Qwark

Captain Qwark appears on the radio and in adverts all around the galaxy and he seems to be the epitome of a superhero. As it turns out, however, he's a bit of a bumbling fool (and a traitor). After visiting Al's Roboshack on Kerwan, a wild goose chase from planet to planet commences. Eventually Ratchet and Clank will find Captain Qwark, but not until Planet Rilgar...and he'll send the duo to his obstacle course on Umbris before revealing himself as an enemy and tossing the protagonists to be eaten by a Blargian Snagglebeast. Qwark eventually has to dispose of Ratchet and Clank himself at the Gemlik Moonbase.

He doesn't.
4. Where can Ratchet first race his Hoverboard?

Answer: Planet Rilgar

Upon visiting Planet Aridia early on in the game, Ratchet can receive a Hoverboard if he manages to protect the famous Hoverboarder Skid McMarx from local, hostile creatures. Ratchet will be thrilled, of course, but won't be able to use the obviously-expensive Z3000 Deluxe Hoverboard until he lands in Blackwater City on Planet Rilgar. What follows is a race around a winding track lined with bomb crates, ramps, and enemies. Coming in first place during this race will be a good thing; Ratchet can then head back to Aridia, speak to Skid's manager, and receive the Sonic Summoner.

A second race could be found on Planet Kalebo III.
5. What weapon does Ratchet start the game with?

Answer: Bomb Glove

While the Pyrocitor and the Blaster are early weapons in the game, the first stages are completed using the Bomb Glove and the OmniWrench 8000, both of which should be standards in the arsenal. The OmniWrench is always equipped and acts as a main melee weapon (used for bashing enemies) while the Bomb Glove is a rudimentary ranged weapon used to toss explosives at nearby enemies.

The wrench can not be upgraded at all during the game, but most of the other weapons can be.
6. How many Gold Bolts could be found throughout the Solana Galaxy?

Answer: Forty

Gold Bolts are rare items found in almost baffling places-- to get to them all you'll need a number of weapons in your arsenal and good platforming tactics. All-in-all, there are forty scattered around on the planets; some planets contain one, some contain up to four. What these items have in common is the ability to upgrade a number of your weapons into more powerful versions. Ten of the fifteen equippable weapons in this game could go gold including the Bomb Glove, the Tesla Claw, and the Devastator.
7. The Solana Galaxy is home to a wide array of unique planets. On which planet would you visit Jowai Resort?

Answer: Planet Pokitaru

Planet Pokitaru is visited about midway through the game and the journey through this stage begins by escorting the resort's owner across the resort to his locked room, mainly to get the last remaining O2 Mask (so that Ratchet can breathe the air underwater and on the toxic Planet Orxon). Pokitaru is also covered in sandy beaches and water, so swimming around is not out of the option. If that's not for you, a series of trams and moving platforms are available for your convenience. Planet Orxon is a poisonous planet home to Raritanium Mines, Planet Eudora is a logging site, and Oltanis features a ruined city destroyed by Chairman Drek (who else).
8. Which gadget is best-used on a Versa-Target?

Answer: Swingshot

Aside from offensive weapons, Ratchet and Clank will also stumble upon a number of useful utility items over the course of the game. Some of these are absolutely required to advance. The O2 Mask, for instance, allows Ratchet to travel to planets with poisonous atmospheres or underwater; the Trespassser allows him to unlock large doors.

The Swingshot is found early on and is received after completing the obstacle course on Planet Kerwan (it's given by Qwark's trainer). It allows the duo to sling themselves from target to target to traverse large gaps.

The Heli-Pack is also found on Planet Kerwan.
9. What weapon found on Planet Rilgar is the most expensive in the game, purchased from a shady figure in Blackwater City?

Answer: RYNO

The RYNO is a bit costly at 150,000 bolts on Planet Rilgar but it packs a wallop. An acronym for the phrase Rip Ya a New One, it shoots several homing missiles all at the same time and deals a massive amount of damage in a single shot. Fortunately it's one of the last weapons you're likely to pick up.

At its extravagant cost (the next most expensive weapon is much less than half the price) and its early location in the game, you'll definitely need to backtrack to the shady guy on Rilgar if you want to round out your arsenal.
10. The final boss battle of the game is held against Chairman Drek.

Answer: True

When the last Infobot (found late in the game) describes Chairman Drek's nefarious plan to destroy Veldin with the Deplanetizer (essentially taking a chunk out of the planet and destroying its orbit), Ratchet has no choice but to destroy Drek. The final battle is held on Ratchet's home-planet.

After touching down at his old place and fighting through some of the hardest enemies the galaxy has to offer, Ratchet and Clank will dig into a three-part battle against the evildoer, ultimately destroying Planet Blarg in the process and defeating Drek-- but for good?
