Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. A star can be found on Star Hill.

Answer: True

This one really didn't fall too far, did it? Head to Frogfucious once you've gotten Peach as a party member, and you'll open Star Hill. Star Hill is a mess of meteors with many enemies. To travel from area to area, you'll need to activate little flowers with stars on them in order to open different gates.

In the very last area, you'll find the fourth star of the game, and you'll be well on your way to the next town.
2. On your first visit to Seaside Town, everyone's a little odd, right? Where can you find the Frog Coin trader?

Answer: The Elder's House

The Frog in the Elder's house graduated from Frogfucious' school and now he's searching for the meaning of life. He also seems to suspect that something eerie is going on, but he'll still sell you rare items for your elusive Frog Coins! Some interesting accessories are the Exp Booster (which double's the wearer's exp.), the Coin Trick (which doubles the coins), and the Scrooge Ring (which cuts FP usage in half during battle). Of course, they don't come cheap...
3. How much does it cost to stay at the Seaside Town Inn before you save the town?

Answer: Nothing; it's free

When you enter the inn, the innkeeper will be standing on the counter looking jittery like usual, and he'll offer you the room in the inn for free. When you wake up, the innkeeper will be standing on the table in your room watching you (creepy, eh). After you finish in the sunken ship later, the whole story behind these oddballs will be revealed. For now, we'll just have to be weirded out.
4. At the Sea, there will be a hooded figure who will sell you supplies you may or may not need for the sunken ship. Are any of the equippable objects used on Princess Toadstool?

Answer: Yes

Although the princess doesn't get any weapons, you can still buy her the NauticaDress for a bit of extra defense. Other than that, you can get some usual upgrades and some objects that weren't for sale at the Seaside Town (after all, what was really for sale there other than junk?). If you really want to upgrade weapons (and you haven't done so since Marrymore), then buy Bowser the Hurly Gloves which will allow Bowser to throw Mario (or a Mario decoy) at the enemies.
5. What enemy will you most commonly find in the caves of the Sea level?

Answer: Zeostar

Zeostars are the starfish which can use the Recover move to refill a portion of their own or a partner's health. They're pretty easy to beat (with less than 100HP), and if you come across a Star, then you may even gain a quick level. Occasionally, these enemies are accompanied by Leukos which are large jellyfish-like enemies with electric moves like Bolt and Static E.

When you reach the water, take the whirlpool down and enter the Sunken Ship.
6. In the Sunken Ship, you need to find clues and spell out a word in order to reach a boss. What is this word?

Answer: Pearls

Before the room where you answer this puzzle, you will be given six rooms containing puzzles. At the end of each puzzle, you'll be given a prize (occasionally expensive) and you'll be given a clue from Magellean, DeGama, and Van Doren.
These clues are:
-There is an 's' in the word.
-It is found on the bed of the ocean.
-It has two vowels.
-It has four consonants.
-At least two consonants are side by side.
-The 'r' comes before the 'l'.
A wandering trader will also tell you that it has something to do with the sea, so pop 'Pearls' in as your answer, and the door will open. :)
7. How many tentacles does King Calamari have?

Answer: Eight

As soon as you walk into that unlocked door, the battle will begin. Your first and second battles are against three tentacles each and they have around 200HP each. They also have two attacks: the obvious physical one, and one where a tentacle will take a character away from the battle.

After a bit, the character will return, but they will be afraid (thus lowering their attack power). During the third part of the battle, you'll face the final two tentacles and King Calamari's head. King Calamari isn't too nice.

He has a powerful physical attack and his secondary attacks include Ink Blast (which damages one member quite a bit) and Venom Drool (which poisons one party member). At the end of the battle, you'll be able to advance through this area without having to fight him again.
8. In the lowest parts of the sunken ship, you will find a treasure chest with a monster inside. What item do you get if you defeat it?

Answer: Safety Badge

This enemy, called a Hidon, is near a save point near the end of this level. Much like its Kero Sewers counterpart, the Pandorite, the Hidon has good defense and deadly attacks like Carni-Kiss and Flame Stone. In fact, the Hidon will attack on nearly every turn, and after a while, it will release little Goomba-like enemies called Goombettes. try using Super Jump as well as you can since it does plenty of damage to the monster. Once you defeat it, you get the Safety Badge which will prevent one character from the effects of Mute and Poison!
9. How many Bandana Reds must you fight before you face off against Johnny?

Answer: Nine

Bandana Reds are those unfriendly shark-like pirates with Skewers that will be Johnny's shipmates. As soon as you reach a certain point, these enemies will force you to fight in order to stop you from getting Johnny's star. When you finally reach the captain's room, you'll face off against Johnny. Johnny is actually a nice pirate when you defeat him, but during the battle, he's a cruel captain.

The first part of the battle faces you off against Johnny and some Blue Bandanas (which are stronger than the red ones). Get rid of the lackeys with Mallow's Thunderstorm attack, and work at Johnny. All of these enemies will use mainly physical attacks, and occasionally they're quite strong, but when Johnny uses his Get Tough! attack, it gets worse.

He will also deal good damage with the Diamond Saw attack. Once the battle is over, he'll hand over the star and you can head back to Seaside Town to deliver it to the Elder.
10. Where did Yaridovich keep the real citizens of Seaside Town?

Answer: In the shed

When you return to Seaside Town, the welcoming committee will reveal themselves as Smithy's followers and take your star and run off. Follow them west and out towards the sea to watch them transform into their true form, and start the battle. Of all of Yaridovich's attacks, his Water Blast attack is possibly the meanest thing I've ever witnessed.

When he does this attack, all of your party members will lose most of their health, so stock up on items and use Mallow's HP Rain. Another useful attack by the boss is Mirage.

This attack allows him to create a double of himself. How do you know which is the real one? They'll have better defense. If you keep hitting the real one enough, they'll turn back into their regular form. When you finally defeat this boss, you'll get your star back as well as the shed key. Use this key and save the residents of Seaside Town.

When you've done everything here, you can head north to Land's End.
