((psnz, For your newest contract, does the answer on the grid have to have the starting letter we are trying include to cover the alphabet? In other words, If I am trying to include an animal that includes the letter "H" and I have the clue "Attended the tea with the Mad Hatter: ____ Hare", would that cover the H answer for this contract or not? Thanks. )) Hi Bernie/Rick Apologies for the delay answering your query. I had major medical stuff happening today and I'm just recovering now from the anasesthetic. The answer is "Yes" in that the 26 alphabetical words have to appear in the grid. That means that your example would not suffice. I have a "proof of concept" puzzle complete and awaiting editing. I used a large grid and I think I had a total of 46 animals packed into it. There were situations where I had ZEBRA crossing with ZEBUS (unintentional joke there you may have spotted). There was only one slightly "iffy" answer imho: PEN. I asked myself if COW would be acceptable (I think so), and so PEN should also be satisfactory. I may have used the clue: "Cynet's mother". Cygnet's mother (for PEN). At times, I wish I could edit my postings. Reply #683. Jan 20 22, 9:29 PM |

Links need their URLs to be added manually; blue hyperlinks can't be copy-and-pasted on their own or they'll change to plain text when they hit the reply box. Reply #689. Jan 24 22, 11:24 AM |

"Wow, you certainly didn't let the ink dry on that challenge! You broke some rules? My work here is done..." Rules Broken 1. Use a prescribed word list in a crossword (No room to manoeuvre here - the word list was prescribed - No word could be discarded) 2. Prescribed words were 7/10 even letters. Even letter words are hard to cross. should have been 7/10 words were odd numbered 3 Had to change a grid after initial selection. First time EVER I had done this. 4. Had to choose less than optimal answer options (in the quiz component) to facilitate satisfying the criteria for another source (ie the crossword) Reply #698. Jan 28 22, 2:34 AM |
