Philip k. Dick is the author. It is science fiction and based on the idea that there is an off-world earth colony, founded because of overcrowded and polluted conditions on earth. There are "replicants" which have escaped to earth. They are indistinguishable from natural humans except by special tests. They are much faster and stronger than humans, and a hunter named Deckard is dispatched to eliminate them.
