North Sentinel Island is in the Andaman group in the Bay of Bengal. The indigenous people who live there are called the Sentinelese and they live in voluntary isolation from the outside world. A 1956 law prohibits travel to the island and approaching any closer than 5 nautical miles (9.3 km).
