Theodor Seuss Giesel (Dr. Seuss) had his first book rejected 27 times! What were they thinking?

The book was titled "And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street". The publisher who saw the light was Vanguard Press.

Giesel had termed his first effort the "book no one will publish". The story of how Giesel's fortunes serendipitously changed is worth reading.
