In 16th century, who was the first known female ambassador in European history?

Catherine of Aragon. After the death of Prince Arthur a few months into their marriage, she acted as ambassador to England (official in 1507). She married Henry VIII (Arthur's younger brother) in 1509 becoming Queen consort.

Catherine of Aragon was ambassador of the Aragonese Crown to England from 1507. She married King Henry VIII in 1509, having previously been wed to Henry's brother Prince Arthur.

Catherine of Aragon.
In 1507 Catherine's father, Ferdinand II, appointed her as ambassador to England.
At the time, Catherine, was a widow, as her husband Arthur had died earlier.
She subsequently married Henry VIII, Arthur's brother, and was the mother of future queen Mary I.
