Alan Freed is a critical promoter of Rock and Roll! Freed was one of the first radio disc jockeys starting in Acron, Ohio, and making his way to New York City. Freed's biggest impact was on his tireless promoted early rock and roll music and being the first to routinely use the phrase "rock and roll." He tirelessly promoted the new form of music and helped make it popular with kids.

He helped bridge the gap of segregation among young teenage Americans, presenting music by black artists (rather than cover versions by white artists) on his radio program, and arranging live concerts attended by racially mixed audiences.
