I'm just trying to SEND A MESSAGE TO YOU attempting to STAY ALIVE. It'll take more than WORDS to help me overcome the TRAGEDY of the NEW YORK MINING DISASTER 1941. The letters 'B' and 'G' come to mind. WHY did relatively obscure brothers (at the time) name themselves after initials?

The Bee Gees were a musical group formed by the brothers Barry, Robin and Maurice Gibb in 1958.

Bill Gates (the well-known Brisbane radio presenter) met the Bee Gees in 1960 after the family had migrated to Australia. Speedway promoter Bill Goode hired the Bee Gees to entertain at race meetings.

Gates named the group the "BGs" (later changed to "Bee Gees") after his, Goode's and Barry Gibb's initials. The name was not specifically a reference to "Brothers Gibb", despite popular belief.
