Henrik Zetterberg played 145 games in the top-tier Swedish competition before he was selected by the Detroit Red Wings 210th overall in the seventh round of the 1999 NHL Entry Draft. He played 1082 games for the Red Wings.
Martin St. Louis was undrafted in the 1997 NHL draft (8 rounds; 246 picks) and had to go play for the Cleveland Lumberjacks in the IHL to keep playing in fall 1997. (He was only 5'8" and had played college hockey in the U.S., which was then not respected by the NHL.) However, he eventually ended up playing 1,134 games in the NHL (mostly with Tampa Bay), won the MVP award in 2003-4, and was elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2018, his first year of eligibility. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martin_St._Louis
