Dorino Serafini and Alberto Ascari both placed second in the 1950 Italian Grand Prix because Ascari took over Serafini's car after his own car retired, and they finished the race together. Serafini started the race but had to pit, and Ascari, whose own Ferrari had retired, got into the car to complete the race and secure second place.
