Félix Houphouët-Boigny. He was the first President of the Ivory Coast from 1960 until his death in 1993. During his presidency, he commissioned major religious construction projects across the country, including the vast Basilica of Our Lady of Peace in Yamoussoukro, as well as Protestant churches and several mosques.
