American sound designer Gary Rydstrom created the T. rex's roar in "Jurassic Park" (1993).
He blended various animal sounds quite creatively to do so, including a baby elephant for the high-frequency screaming sound, a tiger for the deeper-frequency growls, and even an alligator for the rumbling, wet throat sounds.

The iconic T. rex roar in "Jurassic Park" was created by legendary sound designer Gary Rydstrom at Skywalker Sound.
