King Charles XIV John, King of Norway and Sweden from 1818-1844, who was a Jacobin, republican soldier and Marshal in France during the Napoleonic Wars under the name Jean-Baptiste Jules Bernadotte. Legend has it that when his body was being prepared for burial, he was discovered to have a tattoo that in English translates, "Death to kings".
