I didn't realize People Magazine has been around as long as it has. It debuted on March 4th, 1974 and Mia Farrow was on the cover.
Some other firsts include Gerald Ford, the first US president to grace the cover, and Prince Charles, the first royal to do so.
The first 'topless' cover was Telly Savalas.

Yep, it was Mia Farrow---her role as Daisy Buchanan in 'The Great Gatsby' was the highlight.
