That is because you score a lot of points when you clear out the cards, which happens only at the end. Just keep an eye on the score when you play the game.

But the goal is really to match up all the suits and have no cards left.

oh, i play on beginner or easy and it's all spades but i usually get between 1198 and 1172ish...is it more about how many moves it takes or the score? because when i don't clear out alot of cards in the first round and i clear alot at the end i get a higher score...and vice versa. it's really confusing to me.
