One of the games I really struggle to get results in is the Crystal Ball game. I don't play often and to date I have only had ever one guess win. I see lots of players with really high win scores and just wondered if anyone wanted to share their strategy - is it just a guess or do you have an approach to work out what the word will be? thanks in advance.

It's useful to remember that you have *six* chances of guessing the word in each hour that it is not found in the first 45 minutes. At the 45 minute mark, if the word hasn't been found, you are given 5 more guesses, and can see guesses that have already been tried. At 55 minutes past the hour, you are given the third letter. I am really finding the new Crystal Ball rules confusing. This last hour the word was "oxymoron" but apparently nobody guessed it. But in the winners column on the left....there are 4 people who guessed the word at 2:45. I think they are all "champions" (25 wins or more), so why was I not notified that the word had already been found when I entered my 5 extra guesses? Reply #5. Aug 25 23, 3:13 AM |

Hey rockstar51 star...I was one of the 4 winners for oxymoron..even though under last hour winners it said no winners...it was my initial guess as it obviously was for the other 4 but I was still able to use up all my guesses...not knowing I was one of four winners! Under the new system there can mow be more than one winner for Crystal Ball. A Champion is someone who has guessed 25 or more words. If a Champion guesses the word before :45, they win but that win will not be announced until the end of the hour. After :45 everyone can still make the extra guesses. If a nonChampion guesses the word after :45, they both win. It is all explained in the link Dagny thoughtfully provided above. Terry explains it all and any other changes to Crystal Ball. Reply #9. The last hour of Crystal Ball shows that SIX people guessed the word within the first 45 minutes, and yet it states that nobody guessed it!! I was still able to enter my 5 bonus guesses, and was not informed that the word had already been found. The word was update, and was there for everyone to see after 45 minutes, so why would anyone enter it again, champion or not,...as it appeared to be a wrong guess? Most of the changes are working fine. The only issue seems to be with the multiple winners before the .45 mark. Maybe the programming is too difficult and it would be better to go back to the original system of one random winner, or two if one is a champ and the other not. I agree, but it can only work if the word is discovered in the final 15 minutes. It's pointless if it's found by a champion in the first 45, because the word will be in the list and nobody will choose it, as it's appearing to be a failed guess. We are not being notified that the word has already been discovered at the 45 minute mark, and carry on guessing, like a bunch of idiots, when we haven't actually got a hope of winning as the word has actually been guessed already. Terry is still tinkering with this, so I would say to keep playing, but don’t put too much weight on what happens in the next few days, as things may change. Case in point on the "don't put too much weight on it" argument: This hour saw a big tie with the word "yielding" but despite it being past a quarter till the hour, the guesses weren't shown.
