Never read 'Twilight', probably never will when I have HP! No offence to 'Twilight' readers. Reply #61. Jun 25 10, 11:12 AM |

I used to hate Twilight before I read the books. The romance is pretty much ridiculous but some of the fighting parts are pretty good, BUT I can wholeheartedly say that Harry Potter is way ahead of Twilight in taste, writing, excitement, everything. Harry Potter. :) Reply #62. Jun 25 10, 5:40 PM |

The reader demographics of all vampire books is far more heavily female than the HP series is. The movies present a problem, as while Harry was supposed to get older, vampires are not supposed to age - making it difficult to get many more Twilight movies out. Reply #63. Jun 26 10, 11:49 AM |

Harry Potter! :D What's so great about a teenage girl in love and a vegetarian vampire who sparkles and rips open girls' wombs with his teeth?! Reply #64. Jun 28 10, 8:48 AM |

I came across an interesting comment the other day: "Harry Potter is about the importance of friendship, love, courage and the triumph of good over evil. Twilight is about the importance of finding a hunky boyfriend." Nicely said. Reply #67. Jul 29 10, 1:37 AM |

You might be getting a bit of bias, with this being in the Harry Potter section, where loads of people love it.. But I've got to say, Harry Potter is my favourite series and will most likely continue to be my favourie series. Twilight was a good read (though not Breaking Dawn - ugh) but it doesn't compare to JKR's completely fantastic books. JKR imagined everything, from the place to the creatures to the magic and everything was extremely well written and interesting. I did enjoy the love between Edward and Bella and I do like reading the books sometimes, but they cannot be compared. There are so many vampire stories and the like out nowadays that the books seem unoriginal. No-one would dare rip of Harry Potter like that! Plus, the Twilight movies are dire. Who would cast Kristen Stewart?! She's too gormless, nowhere near complex enough. The Harry Potter films are *much* better, with reputable actors and actresses left, right and centre. Reply #72. I guess Harry Potter because it's telling you about someone who's trying to learn about himself & where he belongs. Reply #74. Aug 06 11, 7:41 PM |

I love both book series but the Harry Potter movies are far better than the Twilight movies. If you like either one you should read the Maximum Ride series by James Patterson. Reply #77. Dec 07 11, 8:43 PM |

Never read, nor do I ever have any interest in reading Twilight, or watching the movies. I do LOVE Harry Potter though, the books AND the movies. Reply #78. Aug 12 12, 10:16 PM |

I am actually not the type to get addicted to love stories like twilight so I guess my vote goes to Harry Potter. Reply #79. Oct 13 12, 7:42 PM |

I read the Twilight books because my students were, and to see what all the hype was about. They are teenaged chick-lit romance, with a paranormal aspect. In other words, fluff! Now, fluff is just fine for its entertainment value, but it has no pretensions as to literary value. The Harry Potter books, on the other hand, will still be read, discussed, and analyzed a century from now. I have no doubt their literary longevity is secure. Reply #80. Oct 13 12, 8:36 PM |
