"War and Peace." I think it was longer than the actual war. Reply #121. May 28 07, 5:21 PM |

I've read most of Tom Clancy's novels. A couple were real behemoths. "Red Storm Rising" and "Executive Orders" were the largest, if I remember correctly. Reply #122. May 28 07, 6:19 PM |

I guess the fifth Harry Potter book was the longest at 870 pages. However, if you include a book with a collection of short stories, then I suppose that the complete Sherlock Holmes collection was longer. That was 1200+ pages, I believe. Reply #123. May 28 07, 7:27 PM |

I'm with Rizeeve. "Atlas Shrugged," at about 1100 pages, is the longest book I have ever read (at least that I can remember). Reply #128. Jun 21 07, 12:52 PM |

I read all the way through Child Star by Shirley Temple Black, and even though it's only 520 pages, the print is tiny tiny, and the pages are super long! Reply #132. Jun 25 07, 12:54 AM |

Oops, forgot, I also read HP 5 which is 870 pages, but it only took me one day. Reply #133. Jun 25 07, 12:58 AM |

It wasn't the longest page-wise, but The Silmarillon had to be one of the more tedious books I have read. We're going about the torture at Guantanamo all wrong. No need to water-board, strip and humiliate, etc. We'll just make them read that book. However, THAT, Congress might have some issues with. Reply #134. Jun 25 07, 1:55 PM |

Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follet. Absolutely brilliant. I read it when I was about 19 and have recently re read it at the age of 36 and still loved it. Reply #136. Jun 27 07, 3:03 PM |

The Bible. Yes, I've read it from Genesis to Revelation. I was around 13 or 14 and was stuck at my aunt's house because I was sick and my parents were overseas. I haven't done it again and I don't plan to do it ever again (read it from cover to cover that is). Reply #137. Jul 05 07, 2:53 AM |
