The Lord of the Rings at 1000+ pages is the longest for me, I think. of course, if you define longest as time it takes to read the book, I will put in my vote for A Tale of Two Cities. Reply #143. Jul 12 07, 9:36 AM |

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix was pretty huge. I've also read Dickens' Bleak House, which I loved! But if Lord of the Rings counts as one book, that would have to be the longest. Reply #148. Jul 20 07, 1:35 AM |

"Lord of the Rings" in one volume. Over 1000 pages. There are several fantasy writers that have a penchant for long books. "To Green Angel Tower" by Tad Williams is over 1000 pages too. Steven Erikson and George R. R. Martin also have books with over 900 pages. I love long books. Reply #149. Jul 24 07, 4:54 PM |

The Lord of the Rings, was one of the longest books i've read. Also the Outlander series by Diane Gabaldon. The Stand by Stephan King. If the story is good i love long books. Reply #150. Jul 25 07, 8:35 PM |

Just reading the replies here I realise I've read quite a few long books, and none of them seemed that long to me. Maia, GWTW, Scarlett, un-abridged Stand, Song of Ice and Fire, Mists of Avalon, all the Harry Potters etc. I've started War and Peace about 4 times but never managed to finish it yet. Likewise LOTR, it just doesn't do it for me somehow. I remember reading Watership Down as a kid of around 7 and thinking it was huge but I don't think it actually is really. Reply #159.
