I actually read "A Christmas Carol" all the way through. What's the longest book you have read all the way through?

I read Maeve Binchy's "Tara Road" in two days at an airport hotel in Calgary years ago, all 656 pages.

If you mean books that you just can't put down then I would have to say any of the three books by Stieg Larson - they are each about 600 pages and I just kept turning page after page. Such a pity there is only ever going to be three of them :(

I think that one of the longest books that I have read is The Witch From Blackbird Pond.

There's an excellent challenge that goes on each year for readers.
It's called the "15,000 pages challenge"
How many books will it take you to reach such a number?

Harry Potter 4, when I liked to read HP. It was about 800 pages, I think.

I think Stephen King's "IT" although I'm not sure of the number of pages - it's either that of Harry Potter 7, but I'm sure IT is longer. :) Enjoyed both immensely

A (hopefully) unabridged translation of The Count of Monte Cristo--over 1200 pages. Great read, something for everyone.

The Oxford English Dictionary. I kept it in my bathroom for over two years, and would read it whenever I went in. If your planning on reading it I think that's the best way.

Longest individual book was Spenser's The Faerie Queene at 1055 pages and toughest was Joyce's Ulysses at 732 pages. A couple of years ago though I read all 15 of Dickens novels, his Christmas Books, his two travel books, his Sketches by Boz and a 1083-page Dickens biography by Peter Ackroyd - all back-to-back, between a week to three weeks for each novel. That's 12,456 pages.

The longest book for me would have to be Great Expectations by Dickens. I had to read it for school and felt like my whole life was emirsd in it.

Pilgrim's Progress when I was at school. They made me write out extracts for punishment for misbehaviour, so over the years, I think I wrote the whole boring old thing out about three times.

'War and Peace' and 'Les Miserables' were definitely long. I don't know which is the longest. I recommend them both, they are worth the effort!
I can also think of Chateaubriand's Mémoires d'Outre-tombe and Rousseau's La Nouvelle Héloise. They were interesting, although I had to struggle to read them until the end. (I went through a phase when I was 18 when I mostly read the classics, that's when I read all these books.)
