I actually read "A Christmas Carol" all the way through. What's the longest book you have read all the way through?

I think it was Stephen King's "The Stand", several times.

Atlas Shrugged - Ayn Rand. 1200 pages in really small type.
The Bible cover to cover. (SPOILER - the butler did it.)

"Atlas Shrugged" by Ayn Rand
"Crime and Punishment" by Fyodor Dostoevsky
"Tom Joes" by Henry Fielding

I don't know which one is longest!

Creedy, I read The Pilgrim's Progress a couple of months ago and you are right, it is boring. I wouldn't say it is a long book but it feels like an eternity when reading it.

Might I add that I didn't read it as any means of punishment, but now that I have, I feel that I should be allowed to do something naughty as a reward.

Either
The Stand which was over 1100 pages

Don't know if it was the longest but it still feels like it was the longest. As a child I decided to read each volume of our encyclopedia set. I only got through 2 books before quitting. It was too boring.

The Bible, and, I would guess this would count, read through the entire Narnia series that was bound into one volume.

Interesting question . I like big novels because you usually get to know the characters really well.
War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy (1400 + pp) or

Don Quixote by Miguel de Cervantes (1200 + pp)

E. Gibbon's Decline and fall of the Roman Empire, unabridged.

But for sheer pleasure, Shelby Foote's history 'The Civil War'. Read it four times now and I know that sooner or later, I shall go back to it and delve in yet again.
