I actually read "A Christmas Carol" all the way through. What's the longest book you have read all the way through?

I checked my records, and I totaled up the number of pages in the books i listed. Tad Williams' "Memmory, Sorrow, and Thorn" trilogy is a total of 2464 pages long. His "Otherland" tetrology is 3203 pages. The Three books I've read by George RR Martin in his "A Song of Ice and Fire" total 2773 pages, with at least one more book to go.

The longest books I ever read all the way through include these:

Gone With the Wind (1,048 pages)
Middlemarch by George Eliot (924 pages)
Tom Jones by Henry Fielding (968 pages)
The Crimson Petal and the White by Michel Faber (848 pages)

I enjoy a book with a lot of length and depth...as long as the plot and characters are strong and vivid. That's true in all four books listed above.

Insomnia by Stephen King, 1048 pages. I'm going to tackel The Stand soon, though!

I read five 600 page books in a week once during summer vacation. They were children's books, but the story was good. Brian Jaques, Redwall series.

I've read some that have already been mentioned: All 3 boks of Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter & the Order of the Phoenix and Insomnia.
One I'm really proud of though is that I read the whole of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series (all 5 books) in German! Maybe not as long as some of the others, but it certainly seems like it when you're reading in a language that isn't your own. :)

kaylofgorons: I've read the Redwall books as well. They're really good :) I got them from my Grandma when I was little but I still read them occasionally even now.

The Iliad by Homer was pretty long. . . and boring :). If I hadn't had to read it for school, I probably would never have finished it.

I read both Gone With the Wind and Scarlett, which is the sequel to GWTW and is just as long, in a couple days.

The longest book I've read is also Terry Goodkind's Stone of Tears. Though I stayed up to four in the morning to read wizards first rule.

It would definitely be Robert McCammon's Swan Song; I think it was 956 pages. I first read it when I was fourteen and since then I've probably re-read it 10 times. It is a fantastic book!

I'm nearly finished reading the bible all the way through, so once I do, that will be the longest book I've ever read. =]
