I'm not sure about actual length, but Tolstoy's War & Peace is up there, as are Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged. James Joyce's Ulysses was not really so long as it seemed. I thought I would never get to the end! Reply #69. Mar 21 06, 2:19 PM |

The Lord of the Rings, although that is three separate books so it doesn't really count. Other than that, I think it's "Darksong". The second book in a series by Isobelle Carmody. Pikekinggirl, you'll whiz through The Stand. It's long but so well written it'll grab you from the start. I couldn't put it down. I too have read the Diana Gabaldon series, varying in page length anywhere from 800 to 1100 pages, but her last one is a real slog. Three times I've picked it up but I can't seem to get past page 29 before losing interest. I suppose I'll have to bite the bullet someday. "To Green Angel Tower" by Tad Williams. 1066 pages in hardcover format. I notice that the publishers now split it into two books. The worst thing (or best, since I love the stories), is that it was book three in a trilogy, the first book was 638 pages(HC), and the second was 569(HC).
