It comes down to the number of quizzes and questions written on American sports. The computer program chooses randomly, and if there are more overall questions with an American slant, then you will see more of those type questions appear. I believe this holds true in every category and sub-category. As many people have commented every time this kind of question comes up, the solution is to write more quizzes on material specific to other countries. Reply #1. Jun 11 13, 12:08 PM |

There is a random element in selecting the questions but there are difficulty specifications depending on the game played - Easy game consisting of questions which have been correctly answered by a large percentage of players; Medium, a lower percentage...and so on. Due to a large number of players coming from North America, the American sports questions are more likely to be answered correctly, more often, than "world" sports questions. Consequently, "world" sports questions tend to be found in harder quizzes. Sports is perhaps the most controversial category on the site in terms of quizzes being considered *too regional* but if you go into the category itself, you'll find thousands of quizzes that have nothing to do with the USA; even questions on cricket! ;) Reply #3. The best way to get more sports questions from non-American sports is to write some. I have quite a few Aussies sports questions coming up in New Questions soon! Reply #4. Jul 08 13, 5:05 AM |

A dingbat is a fool, a moron, one bereft of high intelligence. A BATDING, however, is the sound of a baseball or softball connecting with a baseball bat. Reply #10. Mar 04 14, 12:33 AM |

Is the prevalence of US sport questions a bit annoying for trivia players because baseball, gridiron, and basketball are nowhere near as global as, say, football/soccer? Perhaps an American player can explain why this is so? Is it all about money? Sporting families in Australia tend to promote golf, for instance, as this sport is truly international and increasingly so - and can be rewarding financially over a longer career. Reply #11. Granted sports questions can be frustrating to those who do not follow sport (me included) but what I think is totally ridiculous is to ask what number Joe Blow wore on his shirt in a particular game. That is not a noteworthy occurrence and therefore of no consequence or interest. Reply #12. Mar 14 14, 11:35 PM |

You know who plays golf in America? People who can't play baseball, football, basketball, hockey, or soccer (whether that was ever could or can't anymore) and old men looking to get out of the house and away from their wives. Reply #13. Mar 14 14, 11:37 PM |

No, Anton, people with patience and looking ot make business deals play golf in America. Mommakat, sometimes the numbers have special meaning... So I understand. And if it bowling, baseball, football of either kind, or cricket, the questions are all same to me. I don't know them. Except Wayne Gretsky played ice hockey. Reply #14. Mar 15 14, 9:39 AM |

I'll bump this topic to point out that I got a paintball question this hour. Paintball! That's a hobby to me, not a sport, like poker and pool (snooker). Reply #15. Apr 11 18, 7:40 PM |
