Subject: New Poems for a New Year

Well, the pressies are opened, admired or dispatched
And Santa has settled for a long hard earned nap!
The reindeers are playing-up, out in the snow
The elves are all yawning and packed to go home!
All over the world there are tired happy faces
As well as some sad ones in some other places,
But Christmas has come, and has galloped away
A small pile of tinsel left in Santa's sleigh.
So if you enjoyed it then let it be clear
And welcome the season the same time next year.
If it wasn't so happy, and a duty to bear
You could find something special to help you with cheer.
For now as the snow falls up in far Northern lands
and the hot sun beats down in the more Southern stands
A new year's beginning - it's just 'round the bend
The Old Year retiring, a faithful old friend.
Say 'Goodbye' to the old year, and Welcome the New!
And celebrate all of the things you can do,
All the new friends I've met, over all this last year
And I'd like to wish everyone Happy New Year!

How I wish I could contribute To the amazing talent assembled here For Shakespeare and Keats and Browning Pale by comparison to "Gem" and "Hare". Well, hellooooo Bunny! I've just spied, your brand new poetry thread, I've not looked in here, for quite some time, I thought it was quite dead. We've had lots of fun in here before, writing our sweet prose, I hope that this time it continues on, but then, you never know... I'm sure the old gang will come soon and add some rhyming here, Creative thought put down in words for all to read, I swear That talent here in fun trivia, is amazing to perceive, This site is something else, you know, it's one I'll never leave. There's good friends made within our teams and on the Chat boards also, The chance to play games and quizzes, write verse and stories, Bravo To everyone that contributes here, it's great to see your flair, So lets see some more of your genius and cheer up that March hare. I've surfed FT forever I've surfed FT a bit I've found it boring never I've read the prose and wit. The few who post are clever The many we await their lit. "The Darkness" By Shane Walling Darkness. Is it safe to come out yet? This place that hides my feelings. Here I stand. All alone. Scared. Broken. Hoping for the best, but expecting the worse. I haven't seen the light in ages. My thoughts and I trapped in silence. Can someone rescue me? Please? Show me that you care. Show me the way. I'm lost. Walking alone, arms stretched out. Hoping to find an exit. Nothing. Darkness. Can anyone hear my cries? Anyone at all? I press on, but my strength weakens with every passing step. The silence is deafening. Memories crowd my mind. Pain fills my empty heart. I cannot continue. Time to give up. This is the end. My final serenade. I close my eyes. Darkness. My heart beats. The pain is gone. I awake. My eyes need not to adjust. For there you are. Whispering, "Take my hand." A single match, struck on the wall. Shadows dance on the ceiling. We walk along the path. Hand in hand. Light. I wrote this a couple of weeks ago for a good friend of mine. She helped me get through the hardest thing I've ever dealt with in my life, my divorce. She's one of the sweetest people I've ever known. She's been a good friend since we met here at FT. I'm honored to have her as a friend. Thank you AnneBonney, I love you. Reply #11.
