Subject: New Poems for a New Year

Well, the pressies are opened, admired or dispatched
And Santa has settled for a long hard earned nap!
The reindeers are playing-up, out in the snow
The elves are all yawning and packed to go home!
All over the world there are tired happy faces
As well as some sad ones in some other places,
But Christmas has come, and has galloped away
A small pile of tinsel left in Santa's sleigh.
So if you enjoyed it then let it be clear
And welcome the season the same time next year.
If it wasn't so happy, and a duty to bear
You could find something special to help you with cheer.
For now as the snow falls up in far Northern lands
and the hot sun beats down in the more Southern stands
A new year's beginning - it's just 'round the bend
The Old Year retiring, a faithful old friend.
Say 'Goodbye' to the old year, and Welcome the New!
And celebrate all of the things you can do,
All the new friends I've met, over all this last year
And I'd like to wish everyone Happy New Year!
