Success is relative, I reckon the directors, managers & supporters of the majority of League Clubs would have been absolutely DELIGHTED to have finished the season 8th in premier League. To put it another way, 7 teams finished above Liverpool...85 of Football League clubs finished below them! That is seen as failure????????? Reply #221. May 16 12, 1:55 PM |

That's a point well worth making C30 .. whilst I'm no longer an avid follower of soccer, the supporters of the team I've followed since the late 1950's (viz Portsmouth), would be in seventh heaven to be where Liverpool are now after the travails suffered with a succession of incompetent owners and administration! Precisely Moonraker....the team I have followed since the age of 7, some 63 years ago, were formed in 1936. The highest EVER finish was 12th in Championship.......we would be "over the moon" the be IN the Premiership ! Reply #223. May 16 12, 3:07 PM |

Liverpool this season have been mediocre. Other managers were sacked for less and as for "hitting the woodwork" 40 odd times ~ translates as they MISSED scoring chances! Reply #224. May 16 12, 3:29 PM |

Bi, big mistake. It goes to show how little American owners (Fenway Sports Group) understand British football. They should have given Kenny another season at least. Where would Man. Utd. be if they had sacked Fergie who never won anything for five years. It's all about history with Liverpool, I don't think we have seen the last of King Kenny. New players, Carroll, Downing, Henderson and Adam that did not perform, Gerrard injured, the Suarez debacle, too much pressure for Kenny (again). What part was Director of Football Damian Comolli and Head of Communications (that's got to be a joke title) Ian Cotton responsible for? Never mind what has been mentioned in earlier posts, Carling Cup win, FA Cup final and eighth in the Premier League. FSG want and need lots of cash coming in and not getting a sniff of £30million or more in Europe didn't help. I only hope that 8/15 favourite for the job Roberto Martinez does not get it (the club is too big for him). I would sooner have Harry Redknapp or Sami Hyppia at 20/1. Reply #225. May 17 12, 2:27 PM |

Now that Liverpool F. C. are top of the English Premier League by two points with six games to go, they have their best chance in 24 years to win it. The only trouble is that over the previous five years I have had a bet on them at the start of the football season but guess what, not this season. Reply #227. Apr 01 14, 12:54 PM |

It is the big match today at Anfield, Liverpool v Manchester City and the teams will be commemorating the 25th anniversary of the Hillsborough disaster. If Liverpool win they will be seven points ahead of Man. City and will wipe out Man. City's two games in hand advantage. Any other result and it is all left to play for. Reply #228. I was in Port Sunlight today, Bernie, so I visited the memorial garden for the Hillsborough victims. It's looking very tidy and ready for the anniversary. Reply #231. Apr 12 14, 10:30 AM |

Ah Port Sunlight, I haven't been back to Merseyside for 17 years. It was nice to see Liverpool win today after the silence in remembrance of the Hillsboroguh dead 25 years ago. Reply #232. Apr 13 14, 6:27 PM |

Speaking as a (voluntary) exile from the UK. Can only hope that Liverpool do it this year. The passion shown by Gerrard in the huddle after the final whistle suggests that the team certainly have the desire. After their performances this year, they definitely deserve it. Reply #233. Hopefully the mighty, mighty Chelsea will beat you at Anfield, but you have been playing well this season and have played some delicious football, so I'd take Liverpool over City any day. Reply #234. Apr 17 14, 5:10 PM |

Well the Mighty Chelsea did beat Liverpool at Anfield but it was to no avail as they fell away towards the end, the 'Special one' wasn't quite special enough. Man City won the premier League, not surprising since they like others before them bought the title again. Liverpool's improvement on last year just fell short and this season they will have the 'Champions league' to cope with and will need to strengthen their squad. And poor old Man Utd have no European football this year what a shame. Should make for an interesting 2014/15. Reply #235. May 29 14, 11:06 AM |

I was considering having a wager on Liverpool to win the Premiership title but I am strongly reconsidering it now. Liverpool have bought Mario Balotelli, subject to a medical. They have just got rid of one nut job Luis Suarez, why get another one to replace him. Balotelli has thrown darts at another player, had a scuffle with his then manager Roberto Mancini and let fireworks off in his bathroom and nearly set his house on fire. He also allegedly wandered around Manchester dressed as Father Christmas handing out cash. Maybe he will try and swim across the river Mersey for an encore. Reply #236. Aug 22 14, 12:43 PM |

Balotelli adds hilarity and unpredictability to the Premier League, hopefully he hasn't matured at all. I'm not sure on your other signings either though. Reply #237. Aug 25 14, 5:59 PM |

Even though I am a Liverpool F. C. supporter (armchair) this story if true just takes the cake. Raheem Sterling's contract talks have reached an impasse. It is reported that even if he was offered £180,000 per week he will not sign a new contract this year. He wants to concentrate on football for the rest of the season rather than contract talks. I think he is unhappy that he is not playing as a forward on a permanent basis. I think he can go on the next transfer list along with Balotelli who has been as good as a man short. Reply #238. Free Market Capitalism has killed the game in England. England can't make it past the first rounds in the World Cup and neither can the 'supposedly rich' top teams in the Champions League. Time for a big change! Reply #239. Mar 30 15, 11:03 PM |

Good luck Jurgen Klopp, if anyone can turn around Liverpool's fortunes it could be him, might take a bit of a rebuild but it will be interesting. Just one thing, no victory in his first match please, signed a Spurs fan in Canada. Reply #240. Oct 11 15, 1:52 AM |
