Don't you just love it when you get an answer wrong because according to Fun Trivia you have spelt it wrongly.......even when it is spelt perfectly correctly.
Someone should drive home to our transatlantic Trivia powers that be, that some words are spelt differently in English, to American.

I thought I had offended you, salami, and I didn't mean to do so.

Language can be so complicated.

No Deunan, you hadn't offended me at all. :-)

Oi, Deunan, but I'm offended - bloody atrocious language, tsk! ;) :)

Interesting list of words there - some I prefer the UK version for and some I prefer the US spellings. I will never accept travelling with one 'l' or marvellous with one 'l' though.

I accept words from both British and American. :-) Haha.

I use one l or two l for traveling/travelling, one or two ps for worshiping/worshipping, though I must say, 2 p's looks so much better... ;-)

I use both words like theater and theatre...

Then there is center and centre.

It's madness, I say. Pure madness. :):-)

Madness... Is there an alternate spelling for THAT?

One of the words of the hour was "glamourise"... Completely British, there. Here, we spell it "Glamorize". Haha. It's a double whammy, the or/our, and the ize/ise. I usually remember to check all or/our combos, and ize/ise combos, but forgot to check BOTH our AND ise. :-)

It's a bit like Americans who root for their teams.. if you said that in Australia, you would attract some very funny looks, and perhaps a certain reputation !

Would cheering for a team in America be acceptable usage of language (rather than rooting)?

Most Aussies would 'barrack' for a team.

I guess that beats 'obamaring' for one!

Have to wiegh in here from the editorial position.

If you see a FITB that does not accept all accepted spellings of the word, please send a correction note, as that is against policy.

This does not mean, of course, that names (for example) can be spelled with any of their variants, if only one is correct. It's Stephen King not Steven King, because that's the way that particular man spells it.

FT is not case sensitive - *none* of our FITBs care what case you answer in. Some authors don't know this and include all variants, and the editor might not bother to remove them all, but it makes no difference. Answer LiKe ThiS if you like, it will be marked correct.

Now I realise that I hadn't realized that is all a load of "Alpha, Sierra, Sierra" and I can't be arsed with it!

So why do I still get disenchanted when I have put in the right answer to a quiz, spelt it correctly, and when I hit submit find the thing telling me I got that question wrong?
Second only to that, is when my answer has not registered and it blithely tells me, "you did not answer this question"....did, did,.....variety of Anglo-Saxon 4 letter words....DID!
............and when I get "your post has not been accepted" because it dosn't like the usze of two exclamation marks! and ! so THERE!......and it seems it dosn't like donkeys. What, may I ask, if I may, is wrong with the word (and I spell using phonetic alphabet) "Alpha, Sierra, Sierra".

Yet it lets my typo "usze", when I meant "use" through?

How did that happen? Both my posts were deleted.

Today on Brain teaser I had a correct answer and it was
plainly correct and it was marked wrong. Then I had 2 other
ones that were marked wrong because of spelling. Needless to say I didn't get the 200 pts. I have at different times been given the message that I didn't answer when I did and had doublechecked that I answered. Maybe a crossed wire somewhere.
