I will keep playing funtrivia knockout, but it seems every week, I'm ellimenated on the first day. No matter how many I get right. This isn't fair to non mouse users. Because by the time you listen to the question, and then use the arrow keys to select your answers, some time has elapsed I think for sight challenged users, there should be a little more leeway in this respect. However, I was fortunate enough not to be ellimenated last week, until last Thursday. but most of the time I have been ellimenated on the first day.

You know, FunTrivia is a wonderful site in that it has a lot of helpful things for the vision impaired. But you can't give those ones special perks all the time... It isn't truly fair if they are allowed to win with 20 in 200 seconds over someone who has gotten 20 in 100 seconds...

The only thing I can say is; keep going at the knockout. Accuracy in that game can sometimes be better than speed, and a 20 in 300 seconds has been proven to win before. Though, with time penalties and whatnot...

Maybe, for the vision impaired, time penalties could be less severe?

Though, a problem I see with anything like this, it would have to be a long process, along with an extra fee, for soemone to "register" as visually impaired, thus warranting the perks, otherwise everyone would be calling themselves visually impaired and needing less penalties.

John, I sympathise with your position but many of the games are time related. Even those of us that can use a mouse lose out to the speed merchants. Just keep at it and enjoy the game.

Many thanks for your positive responses. I will definitely keep trying, especially withthe funtrivia knockout. I have really enjoyed playing the many fun quizzes, and games on this site for the past 11 and a half months.

And someday, you'll be on the top, even with the non mouse method; maybe there's a way to skip forward and hear just the answers, and memory will serve you; you can know exactly what the answer is without ever reading the question. :-) Haha.

I´d like to see this game divided into two sections - for those who already have this badge and for those who haven´t. It´s really annoying and stressing to be in final with someone with this badge - and lose. I understand that the badgebearers now try to get more points for another badge but why not let them fight among themselves?

Because, they'll leave you alone once they win more... The divisions are based on KO wins; chances are that if you have 100 KOs, you've got the badge; if not, wow. If you have only 10 or 15, and don't have the badge, and someone else wins, you haven't been playing enough to give yourself a chance; that person with 10 or 15 that beat you will quickly get out of your set, and you'll be back... I would just keep playing; don't let it discourage you!

:-)

Thank you for explanation, however, I know perfectly well the rules. And this is what I don´t like. I still think that there should be two section - for people with the Knockout badge and for those who are still trying to get it. If I had the badge and was in the final with someone who hadn´t I would withdraw, probably.

Well, now when I am reading this I see that it´s rather childish, but I am really, really angry. I got into the final for the first time in three years and I lost in the end to someone who has the badge. What´s the result? He has 1 point.

Time and again we see posts like this about badges, implying that it is somehow unfair or wrong for a person who has the badge to keep playing and thus somehow "deprive" a person without it of a win. I have said this before but it bears repeating, if you want the badge WIN IT! Be better than however many people you need to be better than, and you will get the badge. You can then take great satisfaction in it, love it, coo over it and generally admire it to your little heart's content, secure in the knowledge that you won it fair and square, and didn't need to have people better than you handicapped to let you "win" under false pretences. We already are seeing the various Champions Divisions and suchlike creeping across the site to cheers from the people who just aren't as good at the various games as other players, if it goes on Terry might as well just issue all the badges to all the players all the time and have done with it.
(And yes I have just been rather rude/abrupt/mean/insert adjective of your choice here, I can take it ;-) but I worked blooming hard for my badges, and I WON every single one of them, in spite of every other person on the site being able to play against me at any given time... I had an old tatty computer, nothing flash, an average internet speed, didn't even know the "filly-in thingy" on firefox (or firefox itself) existed and I still managed it. It took time and effort, but I persevered.)

I have to agree with Rowena- when I look at my profile I feel much more proud of the badges that I worked really hard for.
Badges should be difficult- that's the point. Not allowing someone who already has the badge to compete against me would devalue that badge in my opinion.

With this badge, they've already taken away the toughest players, they're at the top divisions... Same thing as all the other badges getting rid of all the champions from games and putting them in their own competition...

Terry's done what he can to make the games easier to win, not having to beat the impossibles, and still make them difficult... I think the KO has done this well. It's been made easier by "divisions", sort of, but it is still a difficult game.

I also agree with Rowena. All of my badges were won by simply playing the games over time, and by getting lucky once in a while.

You are right, everyone of you, I was very very angry when I was writing that and it must have darkened my mind, you know, I was in the final for the first time on FT. I feel rather ashamed now. I shouldn´t have been so greedy. Of course I appreciate the badges that I really won. Sorry.

No need to feel ashamed, Jolana. It's a question that appears many times... It's what started the champion divisions, someone mentioned that they don't like playing the top players all the time... ;-) Haha.

you never know, it might still happen.

You can play me, Jolana. I've got the badge already and am in the high divisions but I lose every week in the first round because I'm not very speedy - and when I manage to be speedy my opponent is even speedier! What makes it worse is that no matter how often I lose in the first round I keep going up a division so I meet someone speedier still. There's no justice in Knockout, it's a dog eat rabbit world. ;)

I agree with salami's last comment, concerns over who does or does not have badges in the knockout game is of no significance since you are already playing other players of similar skill level. So if you cannot win the four games required against players of similar skill level then you should not have the badge! Simple!

I agree with Rowena and all the other people who said the same thing. If you worked hard and did whatever it took to win a badge, it's rather dispiriting to see it diluted by the introduction of levels, or made more accessible by the removal of the strongest players from the playing field.

Regarding the knock out game, is anyone else in favor of a double elimination tournament with first second and third places awarded?

Morpheus that would be interesting. Would it still take place over one week? Perhaps with 2 sets a day like the GC, to be able to fit all the matches?

I love competition. I play to win but if I lose I know it's only a game and there's always tomorrow. As for devaluing badges, I don't like it. I may never win quite a few of the badges here but if I do it will be because I've beaten the Federers, Agassis and Nadals of the FT world. That's going to be a fantastic feeling! :-D
